Hopefully someone will advise me for the following doubts:
1) since there are many HD media player supports 1080p upscaling, especially WD TV, introduced to the market, can anyone advise me on whether I should go for WD TV or Pioneer DV-610? I usually watch downloaded dramas & movies, so what do you guys think? Any advise for me? 2) How is the WD TV's 1080p upscaling capability as compared to that of Pioneer DV-610? which offer the better PQ & SQ? 3) Since Pioneer DV-610 has an usb connection, can it function like WD TV, i.e. plug in usb storage and play compatible video files on TV? Hope to hear from you guys soon! Thank you very much in advance!!! This post has been edited by WereWolf84: May 17 2009, 11:35 PM |

Anyway, Sony D series is not full HD but the panel capable of displaying 1080p signal. |

i've been looking for an average upconversion to HDMI player also.
and to be frank, and its very true, recently a retail assistant told me... if you are going to invest or already have a HD-DTS, True-HD..which perform analogue (component,s-video) signals upconvert to1080p HDMI receivers you can just use back your old DVD players that has component (1st choice) or s-Video (2nd choice) and just let the receiver do the conversion to HDMI for you. and if you dont have one yet and can on a higher budget then get your hands on a BD player say... maybe sony 350 which is retailing for RM1499 as the Video/sound quality of BD player playing DVD is much better than an average RM400 DVD say sony 708,728, pioneer 410 or philips 3996 etc. test it out unless you intend to get one DVD in the region of around RM700 ...the likes of Denon, marantz, maybe.......maybe the BD players might loose out only but not marginally.... then again.... read on...if you can catch what i trying to say so the what say you all.....depends on individual preference........ save the few hundreds now....get a future full proof BD Player that accepts BD live, HD-DTS/True-HD 7.1 decoding (not LCPM) and prepare your self to the revolution of sight & sound for the future. to support my statement blueray disk price coming down, at RM45... quality is even better that original DVD's ( so do you need RM700 DVD players) so take your pick HDMI DVD player or BD player............???????????? rgds |

yes your fhd tv will have its own upscaler, but i think not up to those better dvd upscaler. i accidentally bought a cap ayam ogatech dvd player at rm80, which produce not bad comparable to upscaler PQ. So solve my issue to search for > rm300 upscaler. I can tell that ~ rm 300-400 upscaler quality is not much better than this ogatech. so rm80 really save my money, till BD become popular at reasonable price. fyi, this rm80 got 1080i upscale too, thru component cable. my component cable only cost rm20 only. i am satisfied with the PQ
forgot to tell that i dare not buy more expensive player, as my kid will make it 'destroy' in less than a quarter, so no choice need rm80 ayam player. i got lucky i got a very good ayam player. This post has been edited by saratoga: Jun 11 2009, 05:16 PM |
