ACtually I posted here a few months back about my DS lite with a broken side hinge... the only way I managed to fix it was to buy a new casing and got Bernard of GameSolutions to fix it for me. My DS lite was white in color btw... now though, I've got the Shock! Magnum Chrome DS Lite shell... so it looks... erm... pretty nice now...

I have a white NDSL, no cracked hinges yet at all. Luckily for me I got the batch after they corrected the problem.

Firstly, that click doesn't mean anything.
Secondly, crack hinges are rare nowadays. Ninty fixed the problem.
Lastly, I'm as rough as sailors when I flip open my NDSL. I don't see any differences other than the hinge getting smoother.

I'm pretty sure it's like the ribbons for slider phones, keep it in use frequently, and it'll be fine.

Edit: Also, learn to research. It's like saying RROD affects EVERYONE buying a 360, it doesn't, in fact, stats show about less than 10% do. For the case of cracked hinges, even less than that gets hit. You must be very unlucky to be one of the few hundreds who get them, considering 200k units are being sold almost every month.

evilhomura89, you're scaring a lot of other DS Lite users here. tongue.gif

Anyway, isn't the crack only aesthetic? The crack at the hinge does happen but it doesn't actually rip off the whole side of the flip.

It's like the WiiMote in screen pics. I don't see the point of saying that it's a threat because it isn't. It really isn't that common, it isn't common at all.

AS LONG as you flip your DS lite gently that won't happened. Well at least it doesn't happened to me. I always wait for a few seconds while extending the lid before hearing the 'tck' sound.

Go DIY yrself a stylus that won't hurt yr DS
Use an old pen, take the pen casing and remove the ink tube. Use a cotton bud and replace the ink tube. U'll have a stylus with a cotton bud head...i doubt it will harm yr DS...

Cottonbuds can still scratch your DS because dust can stick to it easier. I flip my lid open as casual as anyone would, I think after a year of owning one no one would take care in opening the lid slowly. At least I don't, I have complete faith that it wouldn't break into a thousand pieces. Do you?

I also have a cracked hinge and it can't stay in one position i.e it's always 180degress.

Just wanna check if anyone has replaced their entire housing before. If yes, kindly let me know where you did it and what's the charges involved.

Thanks alot for your time.
