Go with fw 2.0.1 as i'm using 2g 8GB. fw 2.0.2 is best for 3G iphones.

What was the problem mike? DFU? root partition?

Added on September 9, 2008, 8:55 pmIf we upgrade to fw 2.1 as of tomorrow, our phones will be locked. We gotta wait for some updates from winpwn and devteam to update their software for us to unlock the phone with fw 2.1.

Actually fw 1.1.4 is one of the stable firmware. Fw 2.0.1 is good and stable and fw 2.0.2 are ok on some phones like Mike mentioned. Is up to you to choose which fw you would like to upgrade.

Most of us here have upgraded to fw 2.0.x and only some are still on 1.1.4 as fw 2.0.x does not have MMS, Sms forwarding etc. You can opt to upgrade if you want but if you need the sms fowarding apps, MMS etc..then you have to make your choice. Personally, upgrading to fw 2.0.1 have been rewarding as more apps from fw 1.1.4 is porting over to fw 2.0.x and AppStore is a great addon.

Did you activate the phone v iTunes before you pwn your phone?

Well, u just bought the phone rite? U need to activate the phone via iTunes and make sure you can make calls etc. Then only jailbreak with pwnagetool.

So when u got your phone, you can make calls etc and did you sync with your iTunes?

Make sure iTunes in the mac can see the iphone and what's the status of your phone now?

While I posted a series of steps on how to jailbreak 2.1, I recommend strongly that you all hold off. There are many issues that dev team is working through. A jailbreak isn’t quite enough.

Many apps are not yet stable. Categories will not work because we cannot launch one app from another at this time. Cydia is not yet stable. I recommend you wait a day or two still.

Hey Corvinux..this time we setup both winpwn and pwnagetool in one thread?

Launch iTunes

Hold down Shift and click the Restore button in iTunes.

Select the Custom firmware file. Wait till it completes the pwning.
