how do i tune in BIOS to maintain ram speed of roughly 800mhz?
Cause if i follow one of the forum thread form lowyat.net, guide me to detune the multiplier for ram to 2.00 which i only achieve 706mhz. If i set auto, it will bump to 847mhz. That worries me if i screw up my ram.
Erm, unless you're using Nvidia chipset, else I think is not possible to unlink your RAM with FSB. In short, your RAM Clock is strapped to the FSB. You raised your FSB to overclock your CPU, hence RAM clock will be go either higher or lower depends on how you set your multiplier. Your RAM probably won't screwed at 847Mhz, instead if your RAM can't tolerate the additional 47Mhz, it'll cause your system become unstable. For a simple and effective test, run memtest86 for at least two passes, and see if any errors, else it's good to go
If errors detected, you can either put more juice to your RAM (of course you should know where the safe limit is), or lower the clock to 706Mhz and tighten your timings. Which to do is up to you.
What RAMs you got btw ?
