My point is, as a mod, you blowing up like this is very unprofessional-like. Leave the blowing up to the common folks like us, so you can look parent-like and take care os us common members with no wisdom. And the whole "deleting episode"? What can I say, it was akin to a salvage operation to fix an already sinking ship.
P/S: Regarding the issue of newbie treatment, already we are seeing results. A new member, Jackdon, had done the firmware update to 2.0.1, a fairly complicated procedure, all by himself, on his own initiative and self-reliance. This is the kind of user we are looking for in the iPhone forum, not the touch-and-go type that asks questions and disappears later. Contributary members are always a welcomed addition.
thought i might put in my 2 cents on the matter.
"Professional" means getting payment to do a job. We moderators get our training on the fly and our payment is.... well.... satisfaction of a job well done?
ianho deletes your posts. you complain he is shutting you up and abusing power.
ianho hears your complaints and UNDELETES your posts. you complain he is making you look like a spammer and he is abusing power.
Thats a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation isnt it?
What power do we moderators have over you? we cant raise or lower taxes/petrol price. we cant take away your job. we cant even mess your internet connection.
I'm glad you have a criteria for welcoming new members to the club. Last I remembered, this was a forum. A place of information to flow and exchange freely(also meaning without charge). Openly giving without hoping for anything in return. No rewards, no pats on the back, sometimes the newbs even leave without a simple "Hey Great! it works now! !" I say its their loss more than yours.
so ianho has a different opinion as you do about "touch-n-go" posters. he deletes your comments because he feels you are intimidating them. Is he not allowed to express that opinion? If anything he just needs to be more diplomatic about it. Its so easy to read things the wrong way these days.
As for how important your opinion is, doesnt the fact that about 1/2 dozen mods and admin talking to you say something?
Hmmm. I guess I'm too much the slow old fool in this internet generation. Everyone already got their say.
