Then why did you say he did it by the book if you don't know he's the one?

Whether it's ianho or any other moderator, hiding a post/thread (invisible) if he deem necessary is indeed by the book.
If anyone complain or appeal, we could always bring it up as reference for the admin or anyone else.

No my question is HOW do you know he did it by the book? You checked String's Thread, or you're just guessing?

Does it matter who did it now? That question only ianho or admins can answer.

i think that was in reference to the spam of threads created today.

as for the posts, donno - have to check first. anyway accusations without proof is not good.

anyone who has any form of dissatisfaction on moderation taken, they could always highlight the matter and express the reasons of their dissatisfaction.

simple as that.

Please check it and I'd like an answer to that, please.

I'd like an answer as to why that post was constantly deleted, resulting in me having to post a THREAD and called spamming.

My point is, as a mod, you blowing up like this is very unprofessional-like. Leave the blowing up to the common folks like us, so you can look parent-like and take care os us common members with no wisdom. And the whole "deleting episode"? What can I say, it was akin to a salvage operation to fix an already sinking ship.

P/S: Regarding the issue of newbie treatment, already we are seeing results. A new member, Jackdon, had done the firmware update to 2.0.1, a fairly complicated procedure, all by himself, on his own initiative and self-reliance. This is the kind of user we are looking for in the iPhone forum, not the touch-and-go type that asks questions and disappears later. Contributary members are always a welcomed addition.

Hey string,

thought i might put in my 2 cents on the matter.

"Professional" means getting payment to do a job. We moderators get our training on the fly and our payment is.... well.... satisfaction of a job well done?

ianho deletes your posts. you complain he is shutting you up and abusing power.
ianho hears your complaints and UNDELETES your posts. you complain he is making you look like a spammer and he is abusing power.
Thats a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation isnt it?

What power do we moderators have over you? we cant raise or lower taxes/petrol price. we cant take away your job. we cant even mess your internet connection.

I'm glad you have a criteria for welcoming new members to the club. Last I remembered, this was a forum. A place of information to flow and exchange freely(also meaning without charge). Openly giving without hoping for anything in return. No rewards, no pats on the back, sometimes the newbs even leave without a simple "Hey Great! it works now! !" I say its their loss more than yours.

so ianho has a different opinion as you do about "touch-n-go" posters. he deletes your comments because he feels you are intimidating them. Is he not allowed to express that opinion? If anything he just needs to be more diplomatic about it. Its so easy to read things the wrong way these days.

As for how important your opinion is, doesnt the fact that about 1/2 dozen mods and admin talking to you say something?

Hmmm. I guess I'm too much the slow old fool in this internet generation. Everyone already got their say.

How are we supposed to provide date and time ? when the post is already deleted ? and how do we know which Mod is the culprit if there is more than 1 on the section ?

Is this question really that hard to answer ?

ahhh no, constant deletion of post is not related to you spamming threads at wrong section.

next time - use the already available means for proper attention to your complaint.

This post have so much content that is relevant to this mess, I could kiss you for it!

The whole mess started with the post deletion. It signifies cowardice to me, instead of coming to me face to face (or post to post for that matter tongue.gif), that person chose to ignore and conveniently delete and pretend it never happened. If I was brush aside that easily, I would be somewhat miffed. Wouldnt you?

This is, after all, a forum. And the act of brushing aside one's post, possibly because it differs in opinion than yours negates the function of being in a forum.

I think he is referring to the 1st instance so that it should not happen again

How about the power to censor , delete and warp the discussions to a personal agenda
[ note : this is general not specific reference to any 1 mod]

Good , glad you realise it but a forum cannot be truly " free " if it is constantly being perverted to suit what one like and does not like to hear.

Nothing free about that , the implication and follow on as many have noted is that you have to grovel to the " right " people for " free exchanges " . Not free at all.

I think if you put that to a real vote on LYN the answer would be NO. Who's to say who is intimidated unless there is a direct complaint from others. How can an opinion be " expressed " by deletion ? makes no sense .

that's not the point , we are pointing out that some Mods are abusing their power ie) that it is OUTSIDE the remit of LYN own guidelines

Being partial is an asset rarely found on people these days, deora. Employing someone and befitting that someone power, when he is incapable of being partial, is an usurping snake coiling, waiting to strike.

I dont want to say anything more, other than my wish to know who deleted that post.

Simple question.

Who moderated the threads and deleted my posts?

I can understand WHY the threads are moderated, but why the posts were constantly deleted?

This post:-
-snip-
That post was supposed to be posted after Ianho posted his on this thread after Post #1784. Why delete this post?

I'd say it should have been brought up via pm or here. Your post would have been flamebait, regardless of original intent. If you've noticed, we have a large number of trolls on this forum, many of them have posted in this thread. There are alot of people out there who are anti-administration(fight the power and all that) because of current political issues or otherwise who choose to vent on us because of the limitations of the abilities to do so against the political parties they want to. They all feed on any opportunity they can get to "fight the power" and atleast by limiting it to pm's or bringing it here, the collateral would be minimized.

It wasn't necessary to bring it out in the open and IMO should have been sent via pm, IMO.

Eta: I think you mean impartial?

So maybe its cowardice. Maybe its bad diplomacy. You cant expect everyone to quite as verbose and articulate about things. Using words like 'corrupt' and 'abuse' are only gonna flare things up more than they need be.

But then commenting about the questions noobs ask, saying they are not contributing, does that not negate the function of the forum as well? I am not saying 2 wrongs make a right, but compounding the mess with accusations because of a difference of opinion is not going to solve the matter.

Err actually I have had the same experience as he many times . And it is cowardly , when it is done on the quiet .

That is up for debate. But would you not concede that even if it happens, that it happens in a virtual space where it has no the politics that control your livelyhood and job? That in the end no money or property or civil liberty of yours can be removed as a result of our censure?
