QUOTE(hiroko_jiayi @ Sep 15 2008, 06:34 PM) hey guys, i just separated my 7 hamster into appropriate order. Juz separate them for their own good. I think you will prefer watching them cannot sleep together than they draw blood on each other. I was once told tat hamster got no emotion like humans, so juz pretend don't know don't care. Maybe 2 weeks later, they will barely rmb each other.my 2 female was fighting 3 days ago but they get along quite well before that. i force to separate them since one of them injured. and i have to separate my baby boy with baby girl and their mother so then won' breed. my question here, will you feel unbearable when you separate them and settle them in different cages? i feel so sad as i cannot see them sleeping all together in a small house again .... |

QUOTE(hiroko_jiayi @ Sep 15 2008, 07:08 PM) thats why i am sad. Cuz they could never remember each other even they stay together for so long. looks so heartless There is no way to stop them from fighting. You can only separate them into diff cages. They will live happier if they are alone, they no need to fight for food bowl, wheel, or even toilet...the reason i keep all the babies is because i saw somebody write a story of a hamster's life. the story talking about how the hamster being abandon and throw here and there when nobody want to rear it. and how pain it feel when her children was given away. even i know it may not be real, since all of the people said that hamster got no emotion. but i still feel unbearable to let them separate. at least can let them see each other even not in the same cage. anybody know the reason of hamster fighting? i wonder how can i stop them so that they won be separate What can really do now is either separate them or give it away to good homes. I believe tat there are many good homes available out there which can give them food and shelter, and they will live happily ever after. |

QUOTE(athirah88 @ Sep 15 2008, 11:52 PM) I'm going for a syrian, since I'm a pet-er.. fatsoso not easy to get though. nezu quite choosy in picking new homes... Get your hamster from a home breeder is advisable, from petshop, normally will buy back a bitey hamster. And the most important part, petshop will sell u sick hamster even if they knew it was sick, and a trusted home breeder wun do tat. This post has been edited by bytefreezer: Sep 15 2008, 11:57 PM |

QUOTE(Tortoy @ Sep 16 2008, 12:09 AM) At the same time, try to read some taming articles... i found some on hamster's hideout website are quite useful. Added on September 16, 2008, 12:16 am QUOTE(Sophiera @ Sep 16 2008, 12:11 AM) robos are some of the hardest to tame because they are timid in nature. that measn they can get defensive also. Love+patience=sacrifice Or something Jamien always says. You have to either bribe them a lot and do step by step or you can just watch them... QUOTE(anderyna @ Sep 16 2008, 12:13 AM) if the bribing is not effective, then only take the hard way, scoop them up and put on your palm.. It's RC eh, not robo... so early everyone started to get blur ady ar?... but since yours is robo, better use bribe, scare they dont accept the hard way This post has been edited by bytefreezer: Sep 16 2008, 12:16 AM |

QUOTE(athirah88 @ Sep 16 2008, 12:30 AM) Like they already said, if you bought from pet shops you must be ready to put up with the biting, timidness, etc. Coz they are not used to human touch. Worst case scenario, u'll have to let them bite once or twice to realize tat ur finger is NOT FOOD...Although I read that RCs are more prone to biting.. Syrians are just bigger thats why they are easier to hold. Though syrian bites are said to be worse than dwarf hamsters as their teeth are bigger. What happens if you get a syrian that is just as bitey as your current RC? |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Sep 16 2008, 06:53 AM) Anyone seen the new OVO Loft? Looks like 2 OVOs combined together to be big. The steel top grill looks like for better air circulation on the top. Looks expensive too... All the while i think tat OVOs are not so practicle, same case on this also. Even it looks big, but got a lot of "dead corner" that will bring u headache during placement of toys and etc. And not to say, guaranteed expensive!!!![]() More info here Tat grey color place where the hamster sitting in the pic, is actually a so called "chewable cardboard maze", so putting things on top of this platform is no so gud liao~~ This post has been edited by bytefreezer: Sep 16 2008, 09:50 AM |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Sep 16 2008, 09:51 AM) It's just looks nice. Not practical for syrians though. Maybe dwarfs? Hm... Another question how much toys do you guys put into the tank with your hamster? Currently all my syrians only have a wodent or sanko wheel, brown clay bowl for toilet, 2 Ikea glass candle bowls for dry food and smoothie, a toilet roll, and a small plant pot as their homes. Anything more I fell that it is very cramped for my syrians in the 2 feet tank. In zoozone2 is a different case... Habitrail Playground (Girl's Camp with 2 robos):- Habitrail food bowl for staple food - 1 plastic container for smoothie - 1 Hagen cat's bowl for toilet sand - 1 toilet roll - 2 wheels (one small silent wheel and one big living world wheel) - And a habitrail "second floor" with house 1.5 ft Tank (Boy's Camp with 2 robos): - Habitrail food bowl for staple food - 1 plastic container for smoothie - 1 Hagen cat's bowl for toilet sand - 1 toilet roll - 1 living world big wheel - 1 "Cow" house bought from petshack This post has been edited by bytefreezer: Sep 16 2008, 09:58 AM |

Mayb u can try the habitrail club deck... comes with a ladder and a house, can't rmb the price, less than rm15 thoughIs it possible to add another floor? Btw, the cage is similar to the Critter Trail Mini One shows in Pet Shack website. ![]() |

QUOTE(Criollo @ Sep 16 2008, 03:40 PM) @bytefreezer Dunno eh... maybe when someone go penang, u can ask him bring it up for you. Wonder when will nezu go... Been to nearly all the petshops in Penang , very seldom can see habitrail, got also main cage or OVO cage and accesories... My bf gave me 2 female hammies to take care, both siblings i house in same cage. End up fighting. Well... the white colour hammie (Scimi) ended up biting the agouti (yuan2) until she bled. Yuan2 was also terrified of Scimi and you could see they lived at seperate ends of the cages, putting 2 hide outs didn't really solve that prob as Scimi kept on 'cari pasal' with Yuan2. End up Yuan2 had this 'omg i'm so afraid' look on her face 24 hours and hid in her hideout 24 hours too. Ended up seperating them in different cages. Now, Scimi is happy as a monkey in her individual cage. And Yuan2... she's sitting in her corner everyday staring into space with this o_o look... lol. Find this abit weird cos my boys (phing and Phong) are happy in the same cage until my friends say they look so gay -.- Now my bf's hammy is pregnant again (doesn't wanna listen to my advice to seperate the male and female), so... anyone wants baby hammies in penang? >.< Poor YuanYuan... a bit same like my Yoshii(female robo) also... everyday sure hide somewhere in the cage, nvr take bath... and if some other robo go near, sure squeak loud loud... My other new comer robos all "Plug N Play"... simply throw into the cage and they start playing with each other ady.... aih... i can feel your pain. |

QUOTE(edwinlcw @ Sep 16 2008, 06:28 PM) Was thinking to do so.. the current gace can use to carry the hamster when going back to hometown the time. A tank is the best choice, becoz cage always got chewing prob. no matter wat chew toy u giv, once in while they'll still chew ur bar... haha... And also the bedding wouldn't spill out from the cage when they play or dig.If they get stress, can lead them to have wet tail which is lethal for hamster. Senawang is not tat far from here, so juz fill up their bowl and bottle, leave it at home. If ur house is grounded, make sure not cats can go inside... |
