You only need a computer for producing hip hop music.. trust me

of course there are alot of expensive equipments available. 1 or 2k? then forget it. opt for softwares + interface + controller with that budget. AKAI MPGs and stuff are out of your budget for sure.

not a fan of fruity loops.
Propellerhead Reason all the way. google it up, and see how many artistes out there nowadays are using it.

Fact: Having all the equipment will not give you creativity mind.

Interface: soundcards (specially designed for studio and audio production use), controller interfaces (nowadays usually useless because most are USB compatible)

Unless EBP was referring to something else with "interface"


Controller: Keyboards, Keypads, dials and knobs and faders etc... (Usually MIDI based). You use these as input for your softwares
