QUOTE(T816B @ Jul 30 2010, 11:03 PM) I don't think reverse mode useful in Malaysia.During the summer, you want the air blowing directly on you so you will feel cooler from the wind chill effect (which is how fans cool you off). So stand under the fan and turn it up on high speed. If you “Do Not” feel the air very well, then turn the fan off and flick the reverse toggle switch. Turn it back on high speed. If you feel more air, you have it in the right position. So whichever position you feel the most air movement when standing directly under the fan is the correct position for summer. If you do not feel much air in either direction, then your fan has a very weak motor with a relatively flat pitch to the blade. Fans like this won’t do much good for you in either direction during the summer. During the winter, it is the opposite. You do not want to feel the air movement from the fan blowing directly on you since this will make you feel cooler from the wind chill effect. So, again…stand under the fan and turn it up on high speed. Whichever mode you feel the least amount of air is the correct mode for winter. However, you want to operate the fan at a low speed during the winter, otherwise, even in the correct mode, you will still get some wind chill effect, which you do not want. To set the matter straight about how fans work during the winter and summer: During winter (in the correct mode as described above), the fan will slowly draw the cooler air from floor level directly below the fan upwards to the ceiling where it mixes with the warmer air. The air is then kicked out across the ceiling towards the walls as it comes down. This circulates the air giving you the least amount of direct air movement, which minimizes the wind chill effect. During the summer, you want the maximum wind chill effect, so the main column of air that rushes straight down from the fan is what you will feel the most. However, if your fan is not directly over the area where you want to feel coolest, say your room is rather large with a fan in the middle and your couch closer to an outer wall, you might find yourself more comfortable if you run the fan at a high speed in the wrong direction because the wind chill effect will be more prominent further away from the fan closer to the walls. |

Went to Renovation Expo at Mid valley and saw quite a nice collection from Rubine. Actually this is the first time I heard about that brand (yeah, noob here) and surprisingly the price is not too expensive at all. Anyone using this kind of brand? Care to share some input on the quality?

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the default level 1 speed of the fan can be controlled by wiring? Some fan spin fast and some spin slowly in Level 1 let say, can we set the speed for level one during installation? I'm the type who enjoy slow spinning some fans are just spinning too fast even at level 1.. Anyone can share ur idea? |

QUOTE(pupp82 @ Jul 27 2010, 05:06 PM) Saw the fans at the home decor fair last Saturday, bought them but not yet install. So, U bought the Deka Water Heater? Is it good? May I know which model that U bought and how much U paid for that?Deka X6 - 56" - 5 Blade - 3 Speed - Have remote - RM140 Deka (Forgot model) - 58" - 5 Blade - Have reverse option - Have remote - RM285 Tested the fans at the fair, nice and cheap XD. The X6 3rd speed kinda like KDK 5th speed i think. Was too lazy to survey every brand, so found this Deka tested their fan/water heater. Quite pleased with their design, performance & price so bought all my fans & water heaters from them. I am thinking of getting a basic model without pump. |

Alpha Q16 fans any good? How much are those selling now? How much is the KDK sensa 4 selling now? Quite hard to find KDK fans now in Penang Island (except Baby fan), and LSS salesperson discouraged me from getting Panasonic fans as they say they got a lot of defects and service issues with them. They recommend to go for alpha instead of KDK and Panasonic. Seems peculiar.

Seems peculiar. you should expect to pay about RM460-480 range for Sensa 4 if you look hard enough.most shops now tend to push fans from brands like Alpha, Elmark, Deka, etc etc as the profit margin is higher than Panasonic/KDK, this was explained to me by a dealer who sells them, may or may not be true, but it seems most logical |
