Authentic Malay Food and Delicacies at JW Marriott
1 September 2008 - 30 September 2008

Details

In ushering the holy month of Ramadhan, or the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, the city’s happening hotel has prepared a wide variety of traditional Malaysian delicacies for guests to experience. Gearing towards “preserving heritage”, the Ramadhan celebration will feature 108 of the best of traditional dishes from various states of the country customarily served during Ramadhan.

The Poolside area on the 6th Floor and the Starhill Conference Centre on 4th floor of the JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur will be transformed into a Ramadhan bazaar, to replicate a “kampong” ambience.

Aside from the spectacular set up and displays to spark up nostalgia of breaking fast in a “kampong”, another unique feature of the Ramadhan celebration is its scrumptious menu. For those who yearn for “nenek” or grandma’s traditional dishes, there is “Dari Dapur Nenda” corner highlighting typical Malay dishes that are not commonly served nowadays. Some of these dishes are acar rampai sari, terung goring bercili, rendang kerang and daging salai masak lemak cili api.

The extensive spread of authentic Malay cuisine includes the ever popular Malay ulam or salad selection like the petai, kacang botol, ulam raja, kacang panjang complemented with local versions of dressings such as sambal belacan, cincaluk, budu and tempoyak. Local appetizers to whet the appetite are acar buah, acar jelateh, tauhu sumbat, keropok ikan, and a variety of jeruk or local pickle selection.

Some of the local favorites featured at the happening hotel’s Ramadhan bazaar stalls are nasi briyani, satay, ikan bakar, ayam tandoori, roti canai, chicken rice, ice kacang, fruit station and more.

Priced at only RM54.00++ per person, guests are invited to experience yet another beautiful Malaysian custom which is the “berbuka puasa” tradition with family and friends.

From great food to excellent décor, the culinary team is planning to serve the Malaysian heritage by encouraging the “silratul rahim”, the building of sincere human ties amongst family and friends at “berbuka puasa.”

This Ramadhan, be prepared for a gastronomic experience while we serve your heritage in the most traditional manner!

Few of the lists available on blogs was meant for 2007. Here's an updated one, although it might be less convenient to look through.

since sun and surf are fully booked, went to the one at Avanti.
adults are RM 75++.. we do not know about the 50% price until the bill arrived.

it was worth it after discount cuz there was oysters.. and salmon.. and loads of western food...!!! ehehhe.. not exactly malay food la..

but nasi briyani and traditional malay food is available...

Anyone been to the buffet at Al-Nafourah in La Meridien or Al Amar in Pavillion?
*
haha...Al-Nafourah Le Meridien...i go there every year during ramadhan...level 8 of Le Meridien Hotel...Actually my uncle is the award winning sous chef there, maybe u had heard Chef Zubir Zain?...so we got half price and sometime he sponsored us, the whole family...

The food is nice...lots of choices, from malay, chinese and arabic...bread, kebab, lamb...the most important thing, dont eat one type of food a lot, then u'll full for other choices...when go to buffet, pick a little from all the food...then it's worth ur money
