If got a very good reason or acceptable then is fine.
But for this i really don't see any good reason from them.
Now western media do talks about this. Think others artist also not really like to perform at here already.....
Sad Sad.....

I wonder why they allow the concert to be held... in the first place and then last minute cancel it?

The video post says it all... i feel apparently Malaysia is still living in the dinosaur age, geez man. Everything currently now is really sux big time, just look around you, u know what i mean.

Didn't you all watch the TV commercial on 8TV? Avril Lavigne's concert will be brought forward a day earlier to 28 August 2008 instead.

just now see at the star online:
KUALA LUMPUR: Last ditch efforts are being made to stage the Avril Lavigne concert at Stadium Merdeka on Aug 29.

The organisers are expected to meet officials of the Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry today.

“We are optimistic that the ministry officials will listen to our appeals as there is support for the concert,” a spokesman said.

It is understood that no official notice has been sent to the organisers, Galaxy Productions, on the status of the concert despite media reports that it has been called off.

Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal said the application to hold the concert was rejected as they did not want it to coincide with the Merdeka period and the tahlil religious programme on Aug 29.

“We don’t want the day to be filled with such pop and rock culture. We should be instilling a good culture in the young but here we are allowing other parties to organise things,” he said after launching the book IDeAS for enhancing Integrity yesterday.

“All organisers, local and foreign, should adhere to the rules and regulations before promoting the concert and selling tickets to the public,” he said, adding that the organisers should consult the relevant authorities.

Shafie denied that the ministry’s decision was in response to PAS Youth’s call for the cancellation of the concert earlier this month.

If the gov dint bring it back then wat r u goin to say here?..blame all the stupid fans (including urself) or the gov?...as stated here http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/detail.jsp?contentId=24682 the gov reject the date as it was too close to independence day and asked the concert to be postponed or change to other date...

so u dun think the gov will actually cancel any event if they dun wan to?...just look at manchester united tour last year...did the gov cancel the match and bring it back to pull alot of stupid fans like u said? cool2.gif

u just don't have to thank the govt for it, it is your basic right to attend concert. they just use it as a political stick. look at our Malaysian Badminton Lim chong Wei , he has to go all the way to Permatang Pauh to Support BN to get his RM 300K reward.

Why our Govt must be like that when other good govt mainly covers good health, hygiene, security , farming etc..

just stay true to it. if we don't get it fine but we make sure that BN is luput forever. If it's approve, don't have to thank them b coz in the first place they also rejected it.
