Why thank you. The whole time I was expecting they would prepare their Clavinova instead of that keyboard, so I was kinda disappointed. But it went well I guess.

Curricular is good..the lecturers are simply approachable should you encounter any problem regarding the module..Sry, i don't think Nottingham offers aircraft maintenance.. I believe Tafe in Srmbn does.. |

I think information regarding the foundation program can be found on the uni's website. Alternatively, you can call the admission officer or email them. But as far as I know, there isn't any intake for foundation in January. This is perhaps to cater students who have just gotten their SPM results, can't decide what they wanna do and last minute applications/decisions.
I believe the foundation program is catered for the uni's undergraduate program. But you might be able to apply to other unis/private colleges, but I suppose admission will be on a case-to-case basis, depending on your results and the unis you apply to. If you wanna have more options, possibly it's best to do A-Levels, SAM, CPU or IB. Hope that helps! |

Lolz, hello everyone.
I am interested to persue my foundation and FAM here. Yet the fees are really expensive, so i am still considering. Do you all think the fees really got its worth in this campus? Is the living cost high? How much does it costs for a meal in campus? Thanks |

Fees wise, you can say it's cheaper if compared to Monash, which is the other foreign uni to settle in West Malaysia.
And holding a degree from Nottingham is a highly regarded qualification in the workplace, perhaps a lil more of an edge than Monash, (unsure, someone answer to this pls). The courses are on par with standards set by the main UK campus, and all degrees conferred are identical to those of the main campus, therefore, rest assured you are receiving a genuine UK education from one of the best universities in the world. And of course, the fees ARE really worth it. You get good facilities to support your learning experience here, e.g. a well equipped library as well as plenty of computer workstations with 24 hours internet access. Besides, there's also good sports facilities, and a Student Association that provides help and support, as well as organizes activities all year long that enriches your life on campus. Clubs and Societies are quite active here, therefore you get a good chance to develop your leadership/management/special skills in an international setting (the student body comprises of 73 nationalities). The living cost, I shall let the others answer, as I don't live on campus. I have a comment to add, the previous caterer was a big let down, charging astronomical prices for "inedible" food. But now, it has taken a big leap from being "lousy" to "GOOD". Prices now are reasonable, and food quality is of a certain acceptable standard, featuring a wide range of selection from chinese to indian to western (there's even ramlee burger and kebab for those who fancy it This post has been edited by entryman: Dec 28 2008, 09:36 AM |

The living costs are expensive if you ask me. RM 300 a month for a room (which is the price for a semester on other universities). If you're going to study here, you better let it be worth it. For me, I'm going to have to share a house, which would be more expensive, as I didn't book any room earlier(plus, I'm starting in February, with only a handful of other students). At least with a house, I can subscribe to whatever broadband I like And holding a degree from Nottingham is a highly regarded qualification in the workplace, perhaps a lil more of an edge than Monash, (unsure, someone answer to this pls). What sucks was the lack of accomodation support. In return they give extra pocket money. However, I personally prefer better accomodation support(why can't they just let the students choose?), as I do prefer living with my fellow Malay or at least Muslim (no racism intended here, please, it's just preference, why I would prefer that way, you think about it A part of it to blame would be the university itself. They could've put a questionnaire regarding your preferences. Universities overseas does this (well, at least University of Leicester, where my sister is studying). For now, I asked my senior(4 years my senior, his final year now, same course as I will be taking too hehe.) to ask all his contacts for a vacant slot in a house So, no one else on LYN coming in on February(January Intake) I presume(or at least those who visits this forum)? Let's say you stay at a town nearby, say.. Sungai Long or Cheras. And you own a car. To and fro, you use about (with a Kelisa; small engine, low fuel consumption), RM10 per day, which is about 5.5 litres of petrol. This figure is already minimal, means, no extra sightseeing, just to and from uni, plus go out for lunch. For a five day week, this already costs you a minimal figure of RM230 (previously higher due to high petrol price). Not to mention maintenance costs (servicing, wear and tear, tyres, parts replacement). Okay we haven's started talking about time costs (total 1hr 20mins on the road lost) and driver fatigue here. LoL. So..all in all..it's not thhaaat bad laaa.. haha. It's how you make use of what you have that determines your success and value for money. I personally would like to try living on campus someday. Perhaps I can have more time to concentrate on my books, as there's not much to do and go on campus (?) . But yes, you're right. they should improve the accommodation services. Taking on another view, if they made it cheaper, are current accommodation facilities sufficient to support the increased demand? This post has been edited by entryman: Dec 29 2008, 07:46 AM |
