For those who use the Uni - TTS5 bridge, notice that there are a lot of Indonesian workers who are fishing there (although it doesn't seem like there are any fish in that little pond). I wonder if they're fishing or observing the students to look for targets/victims. And the security guards can't be seen from the walking path (if you're walking uphill) which means that he can't see you also.

Lol sorry been so busy nowadays. Long time no check this section of the forum. Was busy with school stuffs and others.
I went for the work and travel program USA last summer in Kings Dominion, Virginia. I have to say that if u work hard enough, u will get back your initial capital plus a little more. If you are lucky, u can cover ur capital + extra money for travelling. My total paycheque is about $6000 of 3 months duration. After some living cost deduction, moderate shopping spree, travelling to LA, San fran, NY, niagara falls, washington DC, hong kong, i still got back almost $2000 of pocket money. But i have to remind you that i was really stingy during the 3 months (i even shave my own head to save the monthly $20 haircut). We travel in budget hotel, take public transportation etc. If you wanna know more bout work and travel usa, feel free to ask here. I'll try to answer asap. The halloween bash WAS A BOMB! i have to admit i never expect such huge crowd (i expected less than 100, about 200 turned up). We had beer bong competition, winner who walked away with a bottle of absolut vodka, and we had a tabletop dance, the girl with the loudest cheer walked away with rm200. It was sooooooooo crazy. Btw the tabletop dance winner was a chinese girl xD. Yeah there's many foreigners, but whats wrong with that? Nottingham is an international university anyway. Late for class now kthxbai |

the only thing that will stop you from going usa is failed the US visa interview. My agent once told me that all malaysians under her passed the US visa without any problem.
To answer your question, nope, i paid the deposit 1st and select my employer later, without knowing who the employers are. There is no assurance of places in WAT, just 1st come 1st served basis when choosing for employer. Like certain employer only have like 15 slots for malaysian, so 1st come 1st served. There will be more than enough places for everybody from all the employers combined. |

QUOTE(pekies @ Nov 4 2008, 10:43 AM) Lol sorry been so busy nowadays. Long time no check this section of the forum. Was busy with school stuffs and others. Can you tell us more about your job in King's Dominion ? If not mistaken it is a theme park right ? .. which department did you work ? and how many USD per hour ? 6k for 3 months is not bad.. Also how many hours did they offer you ? how often do you get overtime? and izzit possible to find second job there?I went for the work and travel program USA last summer in Kings Dominion, Virginia. I have to say that if u work hard enough, u will get back your initial capital plus a little more. If you are lucky, u can cover ur capital + extra money for travelling. Late for class now kthxbai One more thing is that, You mentioned taht you travelled LA SanFran, NY .. That means you took flight from east to west of USA? .. how much would the flight ticket costed you ? ... I heard is is around 500 USD one way. And you said you have $2000 left at the end of the journey ? that means you able to cover back around RM7k out of the RM10k expenses needed before going to the program. Overall you only spend around 3k + ... thats good i believe. Im looking for 8-9 per hours job and good opportunity for second job. Of cuz, hoping the accomodation to be cheap too. Do you have any employers to recommend that meets my needs ? QUOTE(raymones89 @ Nov 4 2008, 01:46 PM) anyone has any idea why the website for the university is so slow? Erm, there is no major title for enigneering courses here. However they allow us to choose your own subject during 3rd year onwards. THus, it is possible that they offer subject related to petroleum. I am not sure about mechnical subjects. Can we choose our major in the engineering courses? For example: Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering but major in petroleum? QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Nov 4 2008, 04:40 PM) the wwebsite is kajang.nottingham.edu.my . You have to send email to the officer there to book. The website is just to let your see the availability of the facilities.QUOTE(devilbbb @ Nov 6 2008, 12:04 AM) Yes. On and off, I still see some advertistments on room rent. Depending your area, the price differs. average it woul be around 350 i suppose...This post has been edited by jasperng: Nov 6 2008, 11:22 AM |

it is quite possible to find a second job there in kings dominion. From waiters to 7-11 cashiers, quit some options there. But bear in mind that kings dominion is in the middle of nowhere. It is just a highway stop kinda town, small, sustainable, but bare minimum.
I didnt pay for my flight from east coast to west coast. It was a complimentry flight given by United Airlines, provided that you purchase their trans-alantic flight to and from usa. I get paid at $7.25 (minimum wage) without any overtime or bonuses doing something like McDonald boy. Then i found a second job which is $8.40 doing warehouse job. I work 6 days a week, 10~12 hours per day average. But i do slack some time to time. I have to admit i am REALLY stingy throughout my trip. I even shaved my head to save on haircut xD. Accomodation is $45 per week, 4 in a room. Utilities fully paid, hostel style. Register with speedwing. They will send you a list of employers and it is up to you to choose. I've only worked in 1 place in USA, so my advise might not be accurate to you. |
