Entryman, 38k is Monash price la..
Eugene's 34k only.
So It would be 17k, and then 8.5k.

Added on September 20, 2009, 11:22 amNote that if pay by 8.5k, the first 8.5k is paid at the beginning of the semester, and the second 8.5k is done after one month of the beginning or semester, NOT the mid of semester.
*
Ooops, yeah yeah, sorry, just woke up blush.gif 38k is my fees.

by the way, you thought it was mid of semester? so did I, when I was in foundation, haha, got caught there.

Hi there, if I finish my first year degree with good results, could I insist for scholarship? 34k quite expensive...it is better if I could save more.
*
Don't think so. But no harm asking and trying.

Reason why I don't think so is:
If they do, they'll have more people getting the same thing = less revenue.
Personally I feel that they provide scholarship for students entering 1st year from A-Levels or other qualifications is to attract new students = more revenue. And if you score below 60% average in any one academic year, you automatically lose the scholarship and cannot regain it again (that's stated in their website) = again, another chance for more revenue, recovering the initial reduction in revenue from giving out scholarships to new students.

Yup, that's true.

And when these new students, who intially obtained scholarship, fail to get the required marks for one of the year, not only does he lose the scholarship, he even loses the opportunity to re-gain it from hardwork. That only increases the university's revenuw.

But of course, they can argue that only the best and most deserving will get the scholarship, and it is only fair to other students that this is practiced.

And yes, I agree that giving out sponsorship = just giving a discount = marketing = getting more students = more income.

By the way, I heard from a friend that tried to apply for one of the scholarships given by a chinese newspaper (i don't remember which) for undergrad studies. He took great pains to get all the documents right, and upon submission, was told that since he's already a foundation student, it is very likely (almost sure) he won't get the scholarship.

The only reason that I can think of is:
It is a marketing gimmick, i.e. the university is the real provider of the scholarship (aka discount provider to attract more student), and pays the newspaper for advertisement fee. So obviously if you're already a foundation student, you'll most likely proceed to undergrad, and won't require a scholarship, therefore they want to earn your money, and at the same time attract more students, thus more $$$.

That's the fault of the marketing staff if the marketing staff ever told the person that such scholarship can be applied. It's the fault of the person himself/herself that he/she does not find out if foundation is qualified for the newspaper scholarships. If it's the former, it can become a sue case, because that person got cheated.

Nonetheless, if it's the newspaper scholarships, it's by the newspapers, as far as I am concerned.

Hmm, yea, that's a more reasonable explanation.

Guess he didn't read the fine print / didn't ask / or was led by marketing materials to believe so.

Do new students (ex-foundation) entering 1st year degree need to enrol too?

Brogla's food (about 50 meters after passing by jia xiang) is not bad too.

But don't go there during peak hours/season e.g. weekend evening. Coz they wanna serve "big" customers e.g. families, and becoz of that they "choi kao u.... wait la..." Da*n stuck up practice... but their food is quite good, try going during the afternoon.

Hehe would you guys be interested to join "The Wall Street Society"?

As the name implies, it's very much to do with Finance, Investments and Businesses. Hone your business skills, networking & people skills, as well as management skills with this community.

It's NOT only for Business School students, but rather, just like any good MBA programme, a community originating from a wide discipline is best desired. The vision is to bring everyone together and grow as a community towards career development, management skills, and better business sense & skills.

Here's a brochure used for the CS Fair
click on the image below to view a larger image
Attached Image

Okay besides talking about career, business, networking yadayada only, if you notice from the brochure above, the club (more specifically it's members) also organise entertaining activities such as Picnic Under the Star & Dota Tournament. Well it's up to the members' own creativity. If you think you have IT, to come up with a new idea and lead it, that would be great too.

One main event organized by The Wall Street Society annually would be the Careers Fair. If you'd like to have a hand at organizing the fair, and be the first among all in the uni to be in touch with companies such as Shell, KPMG, etc etc. then you should join too!

Seeing the bigger picture now? It's a family of people originating from various backgrounds coming together to help each other grow and assimilate with ease into the larger world out of university, without forgetting to have fun to the max on campus too. smile.gif

If you guys wanna know more, just PM me. smile.gif

Put up notice, inform Gerard about it ba..
Then, prepare money for a new one probably..
*
Before putting up notices,

You should go firstly go to the guards on duty stationed at the entry door to the building.

Next, go to the security office @ SA building and ask azlan / others in charge if they have it in lost & found.

Check with SA Office if it's in their lost & found.

If all above fail, then put up notices as mentioned by tanjinjack.

Overall it's at 20th place in the UK.

I've checked engineering programmes it's 9th in the UK for mechanical engineering, 10th for Civil and 20th for E&E.

For Accounting and Finance it's 9th in UK.

I guess I prefer this table.. haha
But yeah, I think Nottingham has dropped since the past year.

Compared to the QS table, this table doesn't factor in proportion of international students.

In addition, most of the regional UK rankings show a drop of ranking in Nottingham.
Someone commented that it's because Nottingham is at the stage of expanding, as they take in more students, setting up more new things etc.
So, I believe after a few years, when the expanding rewards, we can see some sharp rise again!
*
Really hope it doesn't deteriorate more in the rankings smile.gif

Rankings will give us another point of reference to instil into people's perception & clear some minority's doubt that we originate from a quality background.

Talking about DiGi coverage,

My network coverage for mobile phone has improved DRAMATICALLY over the summer break.

Previously had no coverage inside buildings, had to go out to search for tiny weenie signals. But now.. anywhere on campus.. (so far haven't found any bad spots).

Guess they finally realized that 90% of Notts are using Maxis

Agree with improved coverage comment-- last year I was living in Edu Square (new houses) and my parents used to freak out because they couldn't get through to me on Maxis-- silly phone had no signal! Now Maxis seems to work fine anywhere.
*
Hehe I was talking about DiGi. Maxis had lots of coverage on campus, while DiGi did not have. If you said maxis was bad, imagine DiGi. LoL. I struggled. Celcom was the best though, anywhere wink.gif . What I meant is DiGi now works for me, so far so good didn't get any bad spots, even some spots where Maxis didn't have signal, I got a full signal (at broga "kawan kita restaurant" smile.gif.
