I think most of the peoples know about NOTT since its in top 100.
*
Being in top 100 doesn't equate to being able to work overseas, or work in commonwealth country.
For instance, Chinese top universities are not all recognised by Malaysia.

can i still change to different engineering courses during my first year or after my first year?
*
Generally no.
This is a UK university who offers specialism modules right after the course starts. It's not like the Aus universities who mostly practise common 1st year. Anyway, I don't mean anything bad for Aus universities, but to each his need.

However, as informed ThinkingFox, you can change within several courses, usually within department.
Change of different department probably has two possibilities.
One is during the 1st two weeks of the course starts, you speak to the respective person about the change.
The other is after the 1st year end, you just go and apply for courses of other department and happily join their 1st year lo.

Just my 2 cent.
The University itself has superb management and doesn't feel Malaysians to me.
But when you are talking about the cafe and the accommodation, we are in Malaysia anyway.
LOL...

i finished my alevels and i just received the results today. im planning to apply for undergraduate couse at university of nottingham. i went to the website to see the way to apply. but i still hav a few questions. i just received my results online today without any cert. and i don hav the forecast results. i only hav the original copy of AS results cert. im not sure which should i send along with the application form. i planned to make a photocopy of the AS cert and print the results of my a levels which i viewed online, and send them along. i also hav a school's reference from my previous college. im planning to make a photocopy of it too and send it along. are these enough? is there anything i left out? and do they prefer an original cert or photocopies of them?

I went to Kapas today and found out that there is only ONE staff in the so called office, with one working table and some other office accessories.

Well, that's their workforce for the time being I guess (or perhaps I went during lunch hour), bear with the new management.

Hopefully the new management will give Pioneer some pressure to improve themselves!

thx a lot, rxy! i was kinda wondering who to ask since i didn't know anybody in nottingham...thx a lot for the information^^

so if the lecturer wants us to print out notes...we should have our own printer or are printing services available in the unviversity for a fee?
erm...and...what does a loose timetable mean?means....lots of free time in between?

and i just checked MQA...apparently...i think only the degree for management studies and finance, accounting and management are recognised ....sigh....is the MQA approval really important?what will happen if the course does not have MQA approval?
*
In my department, the lecturers prepare all the notes, despite of the size.
Nonetheless, they are easily accessible printing service in the university. Depending on lecturers, you may collect your note in the U drive (accessible by all computers in the campus) or WebCT, and in either way, as long as you are using the TISCRA computers, you can easily send your files to a nearby printers and get the notes printed out.

As the rate, it's RM0.07 for A4 BW, RM0.30 for A3 BW.

thanks for the information.erm...may i know hw much i have to spend if i planned to go for pharmacy course in nottingham malaysia campus?other than the 2+2 option,do they have other study options?like 3+1?(because i think 2 years in UK may not be affordable by my family.)
*
Strictly 2+2 as far as I am concerned. Not sure if 1+3 is applicable, but definitely not 3+1.
You can receive a 2,000GBP scholarship per annum when you are at UK. That is not very competitive as far as I am concerned, achieving certain grades can grant you that already. Also, don't forget the 25% reduction during your studies in Malaysia.

so how much will it costs after all reductions?can i apply for PTPTN loan?
*
Can't you just go to the website, check out the tuition fee and do the Maths yourself?
PTPTN loan is applicable during the 1st 2 years only, because it's eligible for local studies only.

Yes, for your studies, less likely for an on-campus accommodation.

how come graduates of finance, accounting, and management degree in Nottingham can only claim exemption for 4 papers in ACCA since most of the colleges and universities out there can normally claim up to 9 paper exemptions.
*
A quick guess of mine is that the degree of Nottingham is of Finance, Accounting and Management, not merely Accounting only.
But, I'll let the business school folks to talk about it.

Hello guys. I have a question. I have applied for transfer to the UK for my second year and onwards. However, I have decided not to go to the UK already. I'm not sure who to notify about my decision. Does anyone have any ideas? I wonder if I can continue studying in the Malaysian campus without having to notify anyone since the UK office will not be receiving my application and thus assumes that I do not intend to study in the UK anymore. Thanks.
*
Your tutor should be notified and he/she will tell you what to do.

shytt!!! no more on campus accommodation? i just submitted my accommodation form to them this morning.. seems that i', going to be rejected...

throw few urgent quesiton here
> taking cvil engineering course, when the course will be officially kick off? before that, any orientation event? when?
> the latest i should register myself at the office is when?
> how to get to nottingham campus from klia?

common questions
> i have the habbit of having a swim every alternative day, any swimming pool in the campus? if not where is the nearest stadium? how to get therE?
> any atm machine in the campus that allow me to withdraw money?
> any fast food restaurant in the campus? i.e mc donalds', kfc, subway, coffee beans and star bucks?
> what are the transportation options we have to travel to kuala lumpur city centre?
> are there any schopping malls nearby the campus?
*
First two questions should be known from your offer letter, if not, email Admission office to find out.
From KLIA, you can take taxi. Long way is to take KLIA transit to KL central (or somewhere else), then catch the KTM to Kajang, then wait for Nottingham bus. A schedule of Nottingham bus can be found at sa.nottingham.edu.my

Swimming pool, yes, not Olympic size though.
ATM yes, Maybank and another bank I forgot.
NO, nearest fastfood is KFC, where you still need car to get there. Nearest McD is at Kajang, 30 minutes drive. Perhaps Cheras Selatan Jusco if you don't mind the extra mileage.
To go to KL, KTM.
Nearest shopping mall is Tesco and The Store. Those shop-able will be Jusco Cheras Selatan I guess. How about MetroPoing and MetroKajang in Kajang?

Just get to know it's FULL for all 5 islands halls.
If you apply before this, then pray you will be selected.
If you wish to apply later than this, then sorry, you probably don't stand a chance for on-campus accommodation already.

how long does it take to walk to school? is the place called Tasik 5 Halls in the brochure?
*
Yes.
About 5-10 minutes, depending on which part of the university.
If you are going to labs, workshops, or small seminar rooms in the blue buildings, then Tasik 5 is probably nearer than the on-campus halls, just that, no shade for the scorching sun and the heavy rain.

TTS5 (inclusive of Edu Square) ah, not sure. I believe they are in demand since on-campus is now out.
If you really need to settle at TTS2 or TTS4, get a bicycle.

eh by the way how am I gonna get to tesco or the shops nearby ? i heard that it's quite far from the campus ..45mins walk ? I'm gonna reach the campus with just baggage of clothing so I need to buy a lot of daily routine stuff!!!!
*
More than 45 minutes. It's about 5-6km far I believe.
If you need some daily routine stuff, the convenience store in the campus maybe of your help, but the price is quite expensive when compared to outside.

Added on August 26, 2009, 7:06 pmOr you may take the bus to Tesco on every Friday.
