i can never look at DVD the same again sad.gif

I truly understand your remark as mkv PQ are miles ahead of DVD (even after being upscaled).

dvd is much better than vcd. if u contented with vcd and astro and so be it...

get a rm10 copy (not the cinema recording or fake subtitles) i 100% believe u will enjoy the movie....

pixel peeping is usually the first week when u buy the LCD/DVD player/BD/DVD

after that, a good copy is enuff....
*
How to enjoy...when all the picture are blurrry and pixellly!!!!!

I bought original DVDs from Speedy...compared to the mkv, it looks like VCD and Astro already. Don't even wanna look at it anymore.

When i saw mkv for the first time on my 32" LCD...wah-lau...this is how my LCD is suppose to be used, not DVD, not ASTRO!!!

Every frame is like a hi-res capture from a digital camera. You don't even need a FULLHD TV to see the difference. (I bet FULL HD will be even more jaw dropping, no doubt).

As an analogy lar...pausing an 1080p mkv movie...and pausing a DVD movie. It's like the still shot are taken with a hi-res digital cam....on DVDs, it looks like the shot taken with handphone camera. tongue.gif

oh having bigger files is better due to no compression

but as some forummer say:
1) download is slow
2) BD is expensive

i really dun believe a upscale dvd will be that bad!!! unless somebody prove me wrong that upscale DVD is like astro!!!

maybe u watch jagged lines of the clothes and hair instead of the whole movie itself...cheers

so it's back to time vs price that makes me take cheapest price and time which is DVD!!

If your "mean" right now only capable of DVD, so be it, it is nothing wrong. But do not saying that PQ of BD or those 720p/1080p files is not much "different" in term of PQ if compared to DVD.

Your system set-up must have screw up big time in order not to able to tell PQ different between DVD/Upscale DVD player and BluRay/720p/1080p files

And not everyone don't have the time and mean to get better quality video files:

lol, how can be upscale DVD is like astro? DVD itself already better then astro (talking about originol DVD, or at least better copy of pirated >.<)

its just that upscale DVD is still too big difference from blu ray

and again, Blu ray is not that expansive, if buy from amazon, its just a bit more expansive than original DVD sold in speedy ( but if want to compare to pirated, then no way la)

Download is not really THAT slow if you know what BT client to use and configure and DL 24/7......small investment...wink.gif

Upscale DVDs....nyehhh...my HDMI DVD player do upscale and i think so does my PC. No difference at all. It's better than ASTRO of course (provided ur DVD is good quality), but don't make
me laugh that it can even comes marginally close to a good 1080p/720p mkv rip.

If you like jagged line so much, perhaps u should stick to VCD?? tongue.gif

Cheapest?? DL is still cheapest...best bang for buck with best price/performance...LOL.

I'm not showing off just want to showed even in Malaysia, there is "channel" to get decent entertainments and bypassing what our G want us to swallow, let alone censorship. Of course, there will be more frustration to get decent materials compared to western world.

Guys,

What do most of you use to play those mkv files?
I've seem a few NMT models from the net, but which one should I get?

Help me out, I have internet connection .. (1)
I have a rx1800 (2)
I have normal 29" TV that can't take no HDMI. (3)

Which player you guys recommend me? the WDTV does not have component out. the rest I have no idea where to start searching.

Lai, give me some options .. Oh yea (1) internet connection .. post me some links so that i can survey while in the office.

29" 4:3 TV is not a good platform to watch mkv movies. Because the aspect ratio of movies are like 2:40, 1:85 etc, you'll see a very small picture cramped by 2 huge black bars....probably no difference watching DVDs and Mkv.

I think he meant watching on 29in CRT TV.. if the input is just PAL/NTSC component/svideo/composite, you won't get HD resolution anyways..
