Nice work on the FAQ there accugan.

I honestly think that potential PS3 buyers should print it out, due to the overwhelming info there. Some of them not even in the manuals. kudos.

larger capacity thumb drive needed to transfer ur saved games...last friday i just bought sandisk thumbdrive 16GB  just for my PS3 , for update firmware & themes...or later to transfer games save...

Get your facts straight man.I dont think you need a big ass thumbdrive for save data. The biggest data I have came across was about was around 4 megs. Unless for the game data, now thats another story. Both are different. Or if you are trying to back up your system, then yes you will need a big ass hdd. I backed up my system on an IDE hdd, 80 gb. so if my hdd screws up, I can restore my backup anytime.

for updating games, I would advise you guys to connect the ps3 directly to your modem, wired of course.

I've got another external HDD but its not fat32. There's a shop in amcorp willing to clone my ps3 hdd for 80bucks but will take the whole day. plus it will cost me 280 for the WD 250gb hdd and 70 for the casing. Damn expensive place la.

Can anyone advice a cheaper place to do this?
*
I dont think that cloned hdd will work.

it need to transfer the file from your ps3.its a drm thing. i maybe wrong tho.

How bout if i partition my old external drive so that half of it is fat32. I should be able to back up my files there right? screw the amcorp thingey la.... too expensive for my taste.
*
our taste are expensive expensive tongue.gif , the issue here can we afford it or not tongue.gif

anyways here is what I did when upgrading to a 160 giger.

1. I have a 40 giger IDE lying around, I formatted it to fat32.

2. I plugged the thing, using a USB-IDE cable to PS3;s USB port. I select back up.

3. I put the new hdd insde the ps3, format the ting.

4. I plugged the ide hdd, select restore if not mistaken.

5. Play!
