Err, guys, has anyone else encountered that their PS3 game screen just goes very darkish after a while. It goes darkish then bright then darkish : / I was playing Uncharted and was fighting off some zombies and then that happened - the game was impossible to play after that. ADD: The screen becomes darker than normal when entering dark sequences in games but when it's bright, it's okay : /

Help anyone?

Doubt it's the lens problem since the menu itself is dark. I've tried tugging at the HDMI cable, pressing the On button to reset video settings but still same problem. Only happened since I updated my firmware.  sad.gif

Thank for the headup... i was planning to watch movie from MP4 or avi files (supported right?). And also listen to MP3... getting some christmas song for the coming season smile.gif. So all i have to do is save all the files from the thumb drive and plug into the usb to save it into my ps3 right?
Thank
*
thats one way of doing it...

another way is to make ur pc content shared with ps3 thru home network... no need to download into ps3 hdd... just stream from pc to ps3.. using tversity software ..

THank a lot on the link...
I read the whole thread, look very interesting but kinda complicated for me to set up all this...
I usually watch my normal rmvb on my laptop, so dont think I need to stream to my ps3.
But i was kinda interested to know, besides bd movies, you can actually play other movie format from the ps3? I tot ps3 only play bd......
So what format does the ps3 support?
I can just download the movie from the internet and save it into my ps3 hdd?
Wasnt that much easier and cheaper than getting a BD movie?
Any recommended free site to download these movies supported by ps3?
Also can i just save the movies from a friends pc with my external hardisk and transfer it to my ps3 to play?
Is the above possible, anyone wanna share? kekeke  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

one of this day u must get a bd movie to try it out... get the dark knight bd... i'm getting it tonite
check this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/848782
a lot of ppl discussing bds.. how to get them cheap

downloading movies from internet... lack of quality compared to bd...

ps3 can detect external hdd...

We have confirmation from SCEA now that the power supply inside the Playstation 3 is, in fact, universal. The power supply supports 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 Hertz, which is useable in all modern power grids -- including Europe. Although European markers require a different physical plug for their infrastructure, there is no need to replace the power supply.

You can update using the update PS3 using USB thumbdrive (download thru PC, its fast)

1. Download PS3 update from PS website or here http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...933&hl=firmware (thx ninja for links, he's the best) (Firmware 2.53) 130MB+ ... always check firmware news at Play B3yond Community Thread...

2. In USB drive, create folder (CAPITALISED name folder) called PS3. Then inside PS3 folder, create a folder UPDATE... put file PS3UPDAT.PUP there

3. Put ur USB drive into PS3, then go to Select Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media

4. Just follow the procedures... then its done. You can check system version information by selecting Settings > System settings > System Information.

finally got fix but not recommande
i disable wireless security WEP ... aka mean its free for all
Then u try to sign up ur psn network
long xplantion
When u setup the network connection.. use scan (i publish my ssid also) then next next next... until saved. DONT test on spot
then u exit and go sign in. U can try only once every ~1 min to sign in due to ps3 slow to release cache or watever coz it keep getting dns error if i try to reconnect fast2
If really shiat and cant login u have to turn off ps3 and reconnect again (sign in)...
*
good stuff...

also have u ever try disabling upnp on router? since ps3 upnp is disabled... keep trying

Hello PS3 veterans, I am brand new to the PS3 gaming scene.

I have updated everything... and signed up for PSN. However, where do I download all those game demos ? I mean, everything I do something, it says "Not available in your area / region etc. etc."

I signed up with my home address... Malaysia that is. Why can't I do so ? My Internet Browser works perfectly.

I really want to get cracking on the latest game demos... etc. etc.

PS : Is it me or is Streamyx connection to the PS3 really bad... like it showed error updating my firmware and had to restart again and again. I tried it at night (about 2.30am) and it was a lot quicker and completed the update.
*
Since u have aldy signed up with Malaysian PSN id... thats great.. the PSN store for Malaysia not available yet...

so u want to download latest demos and more stuff, create a new user id (US or SG account).. both aldy have PSN stores ...plus dont delete the user id u've created, just leave there for future purposes...

Since u say streamyx is slow, why not download ps3 updates on pc then u can update it using USB thumb drive for convenience.. here is the link

how many times should i explain it...its not that difficult to think...if u wanna buy asian ps3 ( which edition ? ) if u buy Singapore Edition then u must send to Singapore to claim the Warranty , SONY MALAYSIA WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY A/P SET , SONY MALAYSIA ONLY ACCEPT PS3 MALAYSIA EDITION.

PS3 Asian :

Singapore > Must Send to Singapore ( Sony ) > For Warranty

HongKong > Must Send to HongKong ( Sony ) > For Warranty

Japan > Must Send to Japan ( Sony ) > For Warranty

Malaysia > Must Send to Malaysia ( Sony ) > For Warranty

should put this at the front of the beginners FAQ ...

@jen
if u played offline/single-player games, downloading demo while playing should be no prob (i've done it a lot of times)
so far no lag in gameplay... unless u want to play online multiplayer its diff story

i like the background downloading ... make life easier for us...
wish game updates can be done in background downloading.... nonetheless sony doesnt want that to happen...
xmb is flexible... can watch movies, hear music, play games... while waiting for download to finish
