Guys, would there be any reason that I should not buy a 40gb ps3 instead of 80gb?

Apart from the HDD which can be upgraded, it's cheaper and basically performs the same duties right?

Want to buy a ps3 asap but not much money so looking for the cheapest option.

I'll help u for this

1 = warranty

PS3 40gb is either HK set, or SG set, thus if the PS3 got problem, have to send to HK or SG. Some PS3 have problem with BD lens, some shop owners can repair it themselves at a price. U never know if they change a non ori/not good lens, or change something inside when repair. Like my friend case, got problem with wifi, have to send to SG for 1 month.

If 80gb = Malaysia set, just send to Sonystyle to repair it. and Sonystyle ONLY ACCEPT MALAYSIAN set

cheers wink.gif

Alright thanx for clearing that up.

What's the price difference though, between 40gb and 80gb? is the difference very huge?

Wah about 300 bucks difference la roughly then.

But long-term wise I guess better to get the 80gb, since if any problem etc easier.

But then again, got one shop near my house seems quite reliable, doubt they will cheat me if I really send my ps3 there to fix.

Anyone got any experience from the games shop in subang parade? the Auntie's shop.

According to her she got 1 more unit of 40gb but she can bring for me 80gb.

Planning to get my ps3 by end of CNY.

How much the Malaysian 80gb set now? My friend bought for 1899 with some free games but only 1 controller. Thought that's a bit expensive.

Would it be more advisable to buy from a Sony Center or a games shop?

The pricing is more or less the same right?

Getting my PS3 tmr. 80GB MY set.

Sony having a deal for 1899 is the PS3 with 2 games. Thought about it but the games you can choose is damn limited so if plus one more controller is like more than 2k adi.

I'll probably settle for the RM1600 one, get another controller and then buy 1 game first.

What cable does the ps3 come with? Does it come with component cable like the 360? Or hdmi? or just the basic white/red/yellow?

Also if I can get the PS3 for 1600 but not from Sony, but it's a MY set, then it's the same thing right? I'll get a Malaysian warranty and all that so if my PS3 breaks down I can just send to a Sony Centre?

I'm thinking that for games shops I might get a slightly better deal with some free stuff thrown in maybe.

Need a little help.

Just bought my PS3 80G few hours ago.

Upon getting back, i put in Winning Eleven 2009 and managed to get to the match screen. I selected camera type and the game hanged so i pressed the PS button and selected quit game. But the screen just went black and there were 3 beeps.

So i pressed the power button until it went red, and then turned it on again. Since then, now when I put in any game the PS3 acts as if nothing happened, it dosn't load the game and the game dosnt show up on the XMB screen.

The blue light blinks about twice then is just on there, not sure whats wrong but a bit frustrating that I can't play anything now, I registered myself on the PSN network already.

Also I updated to 2.6 but still no difference. Any ideas?

So I should bring it back now?

Weird thing was in the shop it could load... but come to think of it they never actually started playing any games. I think safest I just bring back there.

Alright folks, my nightmare PS3 first day is luckily solved.

Went back to the shop and the auntie agreed to change a new unit for me. Just so you guys know i bought from the game shop downstairs in Subang Parade, the shops name is multimedia something also known as C.K.

IMO, She's quite trustworthy as she always convince me that everything there is new is like her shop policy that they never open anything to try and don't even accept trade-in.

One weird thing though, she asked me not to register my new unit until she tells me because something about getting sony to clear the old unit first.

Abit bummer as the main thing to getting a PS3 is obviously the easy internet access.

What model is your PS3 dude ?

What do u mean by "not to register your unit until she tells you"? Warranty via Online...? Better Register the console via online ASAP..because the auntie sounds fishy..there`s must be something wrong with it..i mean the console may be already been used or registered before by someone..in other words refurbished unit...

80GB Malaysian. Yea, warranty via online. I think cos I registered the warranty for the faulty one already, so she sorta waiting for them to clear it la or something so I can register the warranty again.

About the start screen, yea, it has the adjust time/date and all so I'm pretty sure it's a new unit.

Got it for 2300, 2 games, 2 controller, scratch protector, HDMI cable, free t-shirt.

And yes it's the shop near the escalator.

Tempted to just register it hehe.

Btw another question, couldn't really set up the wireless for the PS3 the previous time. Managed to find my wireless network but some reason couldn't connect to internet. I plugged ethernet cable from my router and managed to connect. Any ideas? I think could be someting to do with all the proxy and ip or something like that which I left all on automatic.

Then again, could be crappy streamyx which has been on and off past few days.
