a) Hi guys, total newbie, here and having some problems with my PS3 (80g from Sony). My TV setup as follows Philips 47” TV (42PFL9532) with full HD connected to PS3 via Sony HDMI cables (white color). At times playing games i.e. Assassin Creed or maybe even in the main screen of PS3, the screen of my TV would flicker in (showing pictures) and out (blank screen) and showing an error message “unsupported video format”. What amazes me is, after a few seconds the screen would come back on again. This would go on a few times and then of all a sudden it stops and maybe re-occur again later. Can you help me on this since afraid the flickering could damage my TV. Is it the setting of the TV/PS3 or the HDMI cable I’m using? Thought the via HDMI all is setup accordingly and I believe my TV is able to cater for the high end reso PS3 offers

Thanks much

acougan and lord ash,
.
Hey thanks much for your kind help and also intro into lowyatt leh....really shy to ask since there's so much discussion around made on the network part and ps3..but will do and ask question..with regards to acougan's request. Here you go, appreicate if anyone have the same issue and also scenario so can help me configure....really dumb when it comes to networking....cheers
.
b) Network Problem. I’m using Belkin G+ Router that integrates both modem and wireless, model number F5D9230-4. I’ve read the thread with regards network problem and have tried to do a static IP configuration for the PS3. I was referred to the site called portforwarding and followed the instructions to setup port 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3658 and 5223 for my PS3 via a static IP. This process I’ve done whilst setting it up in the router. Then went to PS3 internet setting to input the manual IP add config similar to the one which I’ve created in the router. Whilst other options after the manual creation of the static IP in PS3 I just put as auto. Once done I checked the PS3 internet connection and it shows a satisfying 70% signal plus using the static IP add that I’ve registered it with. Further to this, at the bottom of the status screen it’s showing as NAT2, which I believe should not be a problem accessing the network. Thus when to sign in to the PSNetwork, but was was timeout due to error message server is not responding to my request. Btw, my PSN ID is “arachnod”. Accessing internet via the PS3 as well is a bit slow and sometimes is unbearable. Can you help me on this? Also to this configuration by a newbie like me, has caused my laptop to unable to access to the internet (I’m using Macbook Pro)

Okay folks, sorry if I’m seen to hog the discussion but, really am desperate to log in to PSN. Hope you can help. Last night played around with the setting. Under Belkin router there’s an option to see the client list and I can only see, ip add, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5. My touch and tytn is tagged to 2.3 and 2.5 whilst my mac is tagged to 2.2. Surprisingly, my ps3 which I’ve set ip add manually to 2.10, does not appear in the client list but via ps3 it shows 2.10 having 70% signal…Anyone has any idea???
.
I’ve also set via Belkin the ip add 2.10 is DMZ enable plus setting via PS3 Upnp as enable but once set, under connection status it shows upnp is not available.
.
There’s an error message pop up i.e. DNS Error 80028C0C but after while I got my signal back. When trying to log on to PSN network, I get the error message of “you’ve been timed out from the server”…why laaa PSN is rejecting me !!!! Arrghhh……
.
Going nuts over this…btw, went over to lowyatt just now, and one shop recommended me a modem (specifically for ps3) called buffalo. Anyone heard about this?
.

QUOTE(vorchiel @ Oct 17 2008, 03:38 PM)
the 2.2 2.3 2.4 and 2.5 thingy is dynamic dhcp client list or static dhcp client list?

maybe that list only list clients that obtain ip from the dhcp server dynamically. if you set the PS3 ip manually, it wont show on the dynamic dhcp list..

upnp must be enabled on the router.. but since you put it under dmz, upnp is no longer needed i think.. but other p2p apps on other devices may still need it.
*
Hi Vorchiel,
.
I would assume that this is the dynamic dhcp client list since I’ve never set my laptop or other machine to see specific IP add. Only my PS3 I set as 2.10 but even so it does not appear under the client listing……oic if that’s what really happen as I thought that the client listing would show all the client that is hooked to my router.
.
But surprisingly, my belkin showing ip add 2.3 is listed but showing an empty host name. As soon as I turn on my touch and access my router, the client-listing auto-change the host name for 2.3 from empty to ipod touch.
.
I assume the above is normal if switch on touch then address 2.3 appear together with host name. But in this scenario 2.3 is already there. Does this mean my router only can handle 4 address at the moment? Cannot be right? since the dhcp is set for 0-100.

ooo comprende, now I understand so in this scenario, it’s like static dhcp laaaa…will try again tonight to configure 2.4 to PS3 directly and DMZ it and see what happens…….
.
btw under the PS3 manual network setup, can I know what do you input for
a) DNS server?
b) MTU – is it auto or manual? Mine is auto
c) Proxy Server – Auto or manual? Mine is auto
d) Upnp – enable or disable? Mine is enable
.
any diff?

your setup is via easy setup I suppose under ps3 right? Since the DNS is auto. Reason being is if setup ip manually, therefore via ps3 we need to input the ip add, subnet mask (already input by ps3), router ip add (already input by ps3) and also the primary and secondary DNS server. For mine I punched in prime 202.188.0.133 and second 202.188.1.5, got this number from the internet which is streamyx DNS server. Correct or not?
.
okay to your second question, I can browse using the Ps3 browser, went to google and espn but connection slow despite my signal strength is 70%. I’m able to register myself to psn network psn id ‘arachnod’ but upon trying to sign in psn, it loads forever and gives me server do not response and time out.
.
I can’t remember upon registering psn id to which psn I registered i.e. SG, US or etc. could this be d problem on why the psn server is ignoring me?

But i can browse the net using the PS3 browser and resume downloading the demo.
*
Hi kenishi,
.
ur having problem as well? Is it time out oproblem with the PSN network???? Since I'm having that as well. I'm able to surf the net (but slow) but whne trying to log in to psn network, ps3 would load and load and load and in the end it'll see connection timeout please check network setting. checked the network setting and see signal is around 70%...so how laa??? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
.
Anyway vorchiel, changed to add 2.4 and re setup again the virtual server from 2.10 to 2.4 to open port. Also enabled upnpu (is it right?) and further dmz 2.4...... vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif nothing happen oso and still cannot log on to PSN network.....dang.....

Yup...i am having problem to login PSN network...
waiting for 30s then connection timeout, ask me to check network setting.

try all 3 different region PSN account...all give connection timeout....
All this strange behaviour happend to me, after i updgrade to 2.50.
Before that,  I can connect into the PSN flawlessly.....and playing MGO, warhawk without any issue.

Gfreak,
I think ur problem most likely is the wireless setup, and plus the lousy streamyx. Both adding up and causing ur problem.
*
.
Kenishi,
.
problem solved??? Mine still unavailable….you described your problems quite similar to mine leh…but sorry to hear since you’ve only come into this now, since earlier you’re able to do it flawlessly…..laki tension I supposed….but without upgrade to 2.50, ps3 will definitely block your access to PSN. Could be your network setting been jumbled up?
.
I’m suspecting wireless setup, a) I did a static IP add, b) DMZ the static IP for PS3, c) enable Upnp, d) disabled my media server (purportedly can help, but no effect), e) open port as per advised from www.portforwarding.com. All the above I’ve done with no effect and PS3 always give the same error i.e. connection timeout. Can I know ur network setting? Or you can PM me….
.
For the network signal I’m getting around 60% – 70% on average…not sure about streamyx speed though…anyone can advice on how to check my streamyx speed and what’s the min required speed?
.
I’m really out of ideas already of configuring the router..sigh….. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
