If not mistaken, a VGA box if the monitor only has VGA input. IF got DVI, you can use HDMI to DVI converter+HDMI cable. hmm.gif

I've got another external HDD but its not fat32. There's a shop in amcorp willing to clone my ps3 hdd for 80bucks but will take the whole day. plus it will cost me 280 for the WD 250gb hdd and 70 for the casing. Damn expensive place la.

Can anyone advice a cheaper place to do this?

^ there is a way (cheaper but takes longer)

1. buy new HDD and casing
2. format it to FAT32
3. backup your PS3 into your this HDD (it will be a couple of huge files)
4. now transfer the backup files from this HDD to your PC
5. insert new HDD into PS3
6. use the casing for the old HDD and format it into FAT32
7. copy the backup files from PC into a directory called PS3/BACKUP on your old HDD
8. use the Restore Utility on the XMB

Guys,i bought a VGA box (unknown brand-magic box) and tried to hook it up to my PS3 with my samsung 943NWX and i couldnt get a picture. The samsung light was blinking blue but when i changed the box setting to PC,it shows my computer being on. When i switch it to monitor (meaning PS3,nothing happens-light blinks).

Any idea whats wrong..? Is there a better way to connect my PS3 to my monitor? My monitor only has the VGA function btw.I connected the PS3 with the component cable and the component cable into the VGA box, then from VGA box to the monitor... What am i doing wrong?

Any good brands I could try for the VGA box? Any other cables im missing out? Is there something i must do to the PS3 before trying? Must i change PS3 settings before connecting?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

hmm.gif

in my case, I hook and the display doesnt show anything, after check with the manual (surprise a cap ayam brand manual is useful), have to change the display setting first as in used to use my HDTV with HDMI cable. thats why it didnt detect. so I change it with my HDTV , ps3 display setting to use component cable, then my lcd monitor detect it smile.gif

Yours makes sense because you are reducing from a higher resolution. But mine upgrading from the lowest ,shouldnt be a problem tongue.gif

Yes, the monitor needs to have HDCP support or else most likely nothing will be displayed

our taste are expensive expensive tongue.gif , the issue here can we afford it or not tongue.gif

anyways here is what I did when upgrading to a 160 giger.

1. I have a 40 giger IDE lying around, I formatted it to fat32.

2. I plugged the thing, using a USB-IDE cable to PS3;s USB port. I select back up.

3. I put the new hdd insde the ps3, format the ting.

4. I plugged the ide hdd, select restore if not mistaken.

5. Play!
