dun use ps3 for pirated dvds.. just use any original blu-ray with it.

for pirated dvd just go and get a cheap cheap dvdplayer

don't event try to play DVD and CD by using ur PS 3. If not, ur lens will very fast BYEBYE and need to pay RM300 to repair it. I heard this from Allen during purchase PS3 from him

i know this is totally noob. but after 4 months having my ps3, only today that i know i can turn on the system by pressing the PS button on the controller. gosh!

just throw any original disc tat readable by ps3 and hav to make sure free of dust and scratch to protect ur lens

So if use own data dvd+/- RW on PS3, considered pirated?

best not to lo.... if u use good quality types like imation. i think can gua.. dont use all the cheapo brand names ...

The newer PS3s (SG set and above) all have 2 lenses. But even then I don't dare play pirated discs. I just pop my thumbdrive or HDD in the USB.

psn id region doesnt matter..

games normally depend on the disc region

some are free-for-all (lbp,resistance1,gta4)
some are disc-region-based (cod4, motorstorm1)

i dont know about sc4

Its not quite like that.

No matter if the disc is "original" or "pirated", if the content burnt onto the media storage isn't properly done it'll damage the lens either way.

Now why people say not to use pirated discs on a PS3? Well, simple because pirates who burn movies on the discs couldn't care less about quality(I know some do however), and burn at the highest speed possible with the least quality control and worst compression rate at the same time.

Just a quick question, can PS3 plays from the USB drive those DVD-rip movie/anime in avi, mkv format (which usually been downloaded from the net).

yup. can play. tested if external hdd, make sure it is in FAT32 format

How about those with 720 (HD) resolution?
