To my ears the Syn 1 leans a bit towards the warmer and lower side. The bass can be a bit much, so I found using the port plug to make it better controlled. The midrange is very good. The highs are good, but not as extended or airy as some others I've heard.

So I would prefer to pair it with cables or components which are a bit brighter.

Thanks for ur suggestion, will try out some brighter cables when I get a chance. I've paired the Syncs with a warmer receiver but haven't tried to many types of cables. On certain receivers, I found the Syncs can be harsh on the high freqs, but probably mainly due to the lack of juice from the receivers. On a warmer receiver, definitely worth a shot with faster/brighter cables.

I think ur spot on that when Syncs are matched with complimenting gear, shine across the entire freq range. On the high freq, Syncs prob inherently limited by not having a exotic tweeter, e.g ribbon, hybrid. Strangely, I've found the high freq to sound better without the grill?

What AVR are you using now?

As you get better speakers, quality of the amplification is important to bring out the best in the speaker. The high freq harshness you perceived could be from lack of juice or maybe the amp SQ is a bit harsh.

I'm using a NAD T775. I think should be enough to drive the Syncs as the harshness was from auditioning other AVRs, none from the NAD. To me the NAD sounds warm and smooth. The synergy with the Syncs and budget considerations was why I went for the NAD compared to a Japanese AVR or separates. Further, I don't listen loud, only from -28dbs to -15dbs. Not many ppl use the NAD, so might as well tumpang this thread to post some pics of the NAD.

Bro you using separates right? The syncs sound better with a more power amp?

Good eye bro, spot on. You using as well? It's a good value for money cable for me.

I am using the same cable. That's why i can easily recognize it.
By the way, you have a nice system.

NAD is a well regarded brand. So long as you like the pairing with your speakers then it's good.

Doesn't mean more power is better. Also depends on the characteristic of your amp.

Yup. Just like DannyOP, klimal, Syrius and mpyw found out during the power amps comparison.

Thanks for your kind comments. Are you using in HT or Hifi setup? IMHO, overall they sound good but probably a bit laid back in my limited hifi playback. Any thoughts?

Yeah, you right. I took some pains to ensure that I auditioned the Syncs together with the NAD and other AVRs and the Supra cables to get as close as possible to a full addition. Eventually took up the best sounding combo I heard and could afford.

Bro you mentioned the ports at the back of the Sync, how is ur arrangement? I plug the bottom port of the towers hoping to have a bit more control on the midbass. Haven't really tried plugging another port or more than one port. I also plug the only port in the 2C.

I plugged the middle port. You can try plugging the others to see which suits your room best.

Thanks. I couldn't find the individual crossovers of each driver online as was thinking to plug the lowest reaching driver, which should be the bottom port.

Guys, I am interested to upgrade beginner mix and match home theater set. Been looking for speaker brands which suit my peasant budgets and PSB looks nice.

Say, any mid level speakers from PSB (i think WKang bro's syncrony i sure cannot afford one) which I could consider? Who are the distributor for PSB and who can I contact for audition leh?

Thanks for your kind comments. The Image series are good value for money. If you like the PSB sound and budget permits, you can audition the Imagine Series to decide whether it is worth your extra moolah. I got my setup from A&L audio Bangsar but I'm sure you can audition PSBs at any A&L Branch (location from their website). Let your ears and wallet decide and shop around if you have time, that part of the fun of this hobby.

Yeah PSB doesn't give much info on this. So just have to experiment and see what fits your room and preference best.

Thanks Boss Seong for the useful info. notworthy.gif If I understand correctly, probably need to block all ports for any effect on lower-mid bass. Would you have Sync plugs for sale? biggrin.gif

Btw, when will the Imagine T2 be available locally? The Syncs utilise the crossovers and subenclosures the same way as the new Imagine T2. Would be interesting to do a A/B versus the Sync 2T at your place? smile.gif

Thanks to Taukeh jchong for hosting. The Syn1 sounds very nice. I enjoyed it very much. Dual PB13U is now at another lever. An eyes and ears opening session. Thanks thumbup.gif
