wat is the 'E' and 'o' stand for?

bro i already install bosspref n disable the edge
but sometimes the 'E' sign comes out but itself currently there's an 'o' sign on my iphone how to turn off gprs? there's no gprs in bosspref Added on November 9, 2008, 9:25 pmis it good to use fix user dir permission in bosspref & disable the killswitch?
