The Flash Not Gaining Momentum

ShockTillYouDrop.com caught up with The Dark Knight producer Charles Roven at the 2008 Scream Awards and asked him if The Flash was moving forward at Warner Bros., but it doesn't look like anything is happening:

Roven also told us that there is "no momentum" on comic book adaptation The Flash at Warner Bros. Pictures.

It was almost exactly a year ago that David Dobkin (Fred Claus) was announced as the director. At that time, Dobkin said his film would come after George Miller's "Justice League" movie and that it would be set in the same universe.

Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, The Flash has the ability to run and move extremely fast, use superhuman reflexes and violate certain laws of physics, like time travel.

Writers Join The Flash and Green Lantern 2

Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim have been hired to draft treatments for Green Lantern 2 and The Flash, reports Heat Vision.

The writers (the same team responsible for the upcoming first Green Lantern film) will write treatments for both comic book adaptations and, depending on how events progress, will be responsible for the full screenplay to one of them.

Yep, I don't really get the idea of a Dark-Knighted Flash.
However, on the notion of Flash always having the sense of humor & happy-go-lucky like Spidey, that is just partly true.

Look at it this way from the opinions of everyone based on cartoons, movies and comics:

1. In the cartoons and games: Both the Flash and Spidey were funny characters. It's like 70% funny, 30% serious.

2. In the comics: Yes, the funny side is somewhat reduced, with more focus on both being serious characters.

3. In the movies: Spidey @ Peter Parker portrays more of the serious character than the funny character, just like in the comic.
And it works! Everybody loved the first Spider-Man movie biggrin.gif

====================

I'd say, if there are anything to grab from the Dark Knight and put into the Flash, is the high intensity of it.
Flash is supposed to be FAST and INTENSE.
Everybody expects that, not just from the character's power, but from the movie as well.
If they can balance in the funny side of the Flash, the serious side of Spidey, and the intensity of Dark Knight, we have ourselves a winner rclxms.gif

Script for Flash & Green Lantern 2 Treatment in Progress
Tone of The Flash mixes The Silence of the Lambs with The Matrix

"'GL' is always a bit lighter than that on earth but mixed with a twinge of the space opera, which has its own epic qualities to it. 'Flash' as we're getting into it is interesting, too. Though Barry Allen was a little lighter in the comic, I think because of the nature that he was a CSI and moved in this world of crime before this stuff happened. I think it's tonally somewhere in between 'GL' and 'Dark Knight.' It's actually a little bit darker than when we were working on ('GL'), because you're dealing with somebody who is already a crimefighter in a world of those kinds of criminals and that kind of murder and homicide. I find you talk a lot about different films when you're working on a film, and we spend a lot more time talking about 'Se7en' or 'The Silence of the Lambs' as we construct that part of Barry's world, then I thought when we got into it. It helps balance a guy in a red suit who runs really fast."

"A third thing I'd throw at you is alternate dimensions, so it's true that we want to find the things that make it… With 'GL,' we used to say there's a space opera component and then there's the down on earth. In 'The Flash,' there's the sci-fi component and there's the crime component and it's fitting those two things together, and the sci-fi thing, we obviously want to nail that and honor that and do that in a way that feels visceral and real and cool and probably more in the tone of 'The Matrix" films or things like that. I always think of 'The Flash' stories where he met Jay Garrick and knows there was Earth Prime and things like that. There's an avenue for these films to broaden the DC Film Universe in that way, so that's the hope."
