Hi guys,

I recently bought a ds lite , it's JAPAN version and it comes with an 110v AC ADAPTER. After reading some old topics i'm still very confuse about some stuff and hope you guys can help me answer some question ............


1. Is the JAPAN ds lite same as USA ds lite in terms of the 110v charge?

2. The adapter i got in my box is 110v so do i need to buy a stepdown converter ?

3. I've charged my ds lite 4 times and so far it charges normally . but i'm afraid that the charge will damage my DS on the long run. IS it ok with the 110v ac adapter or i need to buy a stepdown converter?

huh? u can charge using 110v adapter? supposedly it would blow up edy.

anyway, my suggestion is get a stepdown converter or a 240v adapter as soon as possible.

Yeah it charges normally and the LED turned off when it's fully charged. Still can play my DS after the 4th charge.

Btw, is it safer to just not use the charger and buy a USB Power Charger Cable from playasia? thanks for the reply.

until now i am not sure why it doesnt blow up. but what a second, r u in malaysia now?

I do agree that Usb power charge cable is kinda convenient as you can virtually charge everywhere with it but too bad for me, they are too fragile. I have got 2 cables and they were all faulty now, so i just get myself a 240v charger. more durable i guess.

Yep in malaysia now. Btw i plug the ac adapter into this extension plug below. Behind tha tplug it shows 250v~

quite seriously i always wondered about the whole nintendo thing with 110v and 240v, considering even the cheapest ciplak NOKIA phone chargers also can take 110-240v

1) Yes. 110v is for US and Japan. I actually wrangled a 110v off a shopkeeper in the rare case i visit either country.

2) Yes. you are supposed to buy a step down transformer.

3) If it wasnt gonna work, it woulda blow'd up by now. in a spectacular manner, involving buzzing, hissing, and the 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony. still, a small step down transformer is always handy for things around the house. best just pick one up for safety.

should i sacrifice my 110v charger to test.....

edit: I just tried the opposite. using a 110v supply stepdown, i used the 240v DS PHAT charger and plugged in my DS. it works.

edit: Just to clarify, while usually it will be underwhelming to try a 240v charger on a 110v source, NEVER plug a 110v ONLY rated device into a 240v source. There is always a chance that the device MAY be able to handle 240v (just the manufacturers never got it rated thus), but losing that bet equals sparks, electronic damage, and a bloody good scare.

my charger is written 110v and i am using it in malaysia, working fine ? its original charger though, but the 110v wording has some scratch on it, i wonder if they modded it ~

mine is written 110.....eh...220 ~ 240 V...hehe

the seller gave me 2 charger 1 is 110v
another is 220v

the pic taken below is the one im using all the time 220v

Cos the seller told me never try using 110v cos it will blow up my ds
Thats how he explained to me cos of different voltage

I JUST BOUGHT A STEP DOWN CONVERTER TODAY.

THANK GOD MY DS STILL WORKING FINE AFTER 4 CHARGES WITH THE 110V ADAPTER.

I suspect it's the 110v - 240v adaptor

else it would have blown up long ago

anyway, my adaptor is the 110v - 240v type, they exchanged the original 110v adaptor with this one, which looks exactly the same like the original one.

if that case, its not ur ds blow, its the charger blow

all charger have the same output, just that the input taken in is different and varies in different region~

in that case mine is region 1(usa) ndsl..1 quick question if i buy a new ac adapter from shop in malaysia should it be compatible with my ndsl?
