Condo rooms are cheaper? Thought that condo rooms go for about at least 1k. Master condo room around 2k coz i know my boss has condo room which he renting for that amount. You'll get 36 inch flat screen tv and can use air-con all day.
I meant condo rentals in AMK are cheaper than condos in Bishan - to a larger extent than HDBs in AMK are cheaper than Bishan.

2K for a room only in a condo, or 2K for the entire condo? If it's room only, then it's rather expensive. During my early days in Sg, I paid 2.6K a month for a serviced studio apartment on Cairnhill Rd, just off Orchard Rd. If your boss is willing to go that high, I reckon there are better options out there.

When i first came to singapore, I was in deficit mode though my pay slightly above $2.5k, dun ask me why, maybe I was to obssessed with shopping. Branded goods here are relatively cheaper as compared to Msia.

Plus, I remit S$1k to Msia every month so i survive on around 1.5k.

So, my advice is that, dun shop too much and control the urge to shop..

Yea branded goods are cheaper. biggrin.gif
But everything else are more expensive - clothes, skincare, make up, shoes etc.

I was offered a sort of room at my boss condo since he renovated the place which has a high ceiling to 2 story condo. So can theres ALOT of room at the 2nd floor but got no window and very stuffy plus got no privacy since its just one big open space, got no door or anything so anybody can just walk up the stairs can look at you.

If my boss had offered me one of the rooms i would have taken it since its only 10-15min walk to the office.

Well, if i stay with my bro at pasir ris, i can at least cook which is a perk and got more freedom. Plus can share food bill with my bro and his GF. But nowadays i dont eat so much, so i just pack sandwich and salad can oledi. Thats if i have access to a proper kitchen which i dont now. Plus i wont have any restrictions on using washing machine or having the hassle to take my clothes when a house owner want 2 cook or something like that.\

Too bad i have to contemplate the distance which is my main gripe. If the circle line open end of this to early next year then i can live with the distance for half a year. But i suppose i can adapt to it.

More importantly, you have something to go home to after a hard day at work.

Rental in AMK quite expensive also right? Single room near AMK station is around $600?
Was looking for a room near AMK initially, but now since i can have the whole unit at bedok i wouldn't say no even though it is quite far from the city  blush.gif

How much is the rental in Bedok? Thanks.

Actually not that bad. Common room can get 400 and only 10min walk or even less from mrt.

About the 2k for a condo, its for the master room. But i'm thinking he either joking or reducing it since its very unreasonable for such a price, even at the bishan area.

How much you earn also you can "burn" in singapore. Even earning USD 200 a day can blow most of it off.

You can 'burn' any amount in any city, isn't it? Not just Singapore. It depends on what you want to spend on. Unless it's something only Singapore sells and you personally simply do not want to buy anything else?

Well there are more choice compared to malaysia for clothing. Whenever i go back to malaysia, especially my hometown. Everything over there is dated stuff. I find it odd that i havent seen a single british india store in singapore yet.

I reckon (over)spending is due to the fact that someone wants to spend. Having temptation nearby might make that spending more convenient, but it doesn't cause it.

To take your clothing example, if someone wants to spend on nice clothing, they will do so even if they live in a fashion backwater like Kuala Pilah or something. They'll probably spend more than a fashionista in Singapore because they pay the extra money to travel to KL/Sg to fulfil their desires. And compared to their Singaporean counterparts (who see nice clothes everyday), these occasional Kuala Pilah might spend even as they'd probably indulge in binge spending on their trips.

I contacted SMRT on their hotline and the girl told me that part, not the whole proposed circle line will be available. They said it will be in four phases and the soon to be opening is the completed first phase.

I asked her if phase 2 would cover the paya lebar interchange which would link the circle line to the east-west aka green line. She said most probably but didnt know if its in phase 2 or phase 3.

I reckon it would be in phase 2 since bartley is very close by.

Where the hell is kuala pilah? But like chess gal said, when come 2 sing, sure will splurge coz got more choices here. Then later will have to reign in expenses. So far the most ex thing i've spent was a purchase in japan for burberry blue handbag for my mom and a zepto laptop which im regretting.

Actually, I don't rightly know where it is... although I know it exists and it's pretty ulufied. Which is why it's my example of a backwater.

Between you & me... I think successful young urbanites like chess gal will splurge no matter where they are. Being in Sg is just a good excuse tongue.gif.

For me, it's the reverse. I'm actually spending a lot less since coming to Sg because I don't have a car here. Back in KL, the car instalments, running costs, petrol/parking/tolls plus the cost of modifications were huge. Here, the few hundred bucks a month on public transport & taxis is tiny, in comparison.

Are you sure. I thought that they have oledi dug the tunnels to paya lebar. Now should laying in the midst of laying in tracks and doing QA/QC work on the condition of the tracks.

A couple of months to run test while getting the stations ready at the same time.

One of my colleague did radiographic testing for one of the new circle line tracks but donno which location.
