I am still looking forward a job switch but SG-SG.

Yea, washabushi is right. Temporarily hold on to your job first. Maybe start to switch once the economic condition has stabilised.

Does anybody know where is a quiet place I can spend my time during the weekends? I noticed that the state library is quite a place to hang out if you are into books and free internet connection. brows.gif

I'm looking to go back to melaka. So now too late 2 get a bus ticket for the CNY holiday? So soon finish oledi? Anybody from melaka can recommend me which bux company to use since i havent gone back to my hometown.
*
I usually get from the 707 bus company in Bugis. Unfortunately, tickets were sold out 3 weeks ago. I was the last few who manage to get tickets back. crapp0, did you try the bus company in Lavender? I am not so sure if they still have tickets available for sale. Keep your fingers crossed. unsure.gif

Alternatively, you can travel to Johore and get your tickets there. I got my ticket to Malacca from Larkin at RM20 as bus ticket from Singapore to Malacca on 5th December were sold out. cry.gif

Do not worry as there is somehow a way to go back Malacca but you might need to spend some additional money and time. wink.gif

Looks like i gotta stay back in singapore for CNY.

Bus operator in Johore has yet to open their bookings for Chinese New Year so you might have a chance. Do you want their contact? I have Jebat Express number. wink.gif

Wah, I heard that Chinese New Year in Singapore is boring le. Even my relative here is going to Malaysia.

QUOTE(siren @ Dec 1 2008, 10:35 PM)
Wah..Wei... Cant imagine bus tickets are so "laku" nowadays.

Ok, next time, during CNY, Good Friday, Christmas, National day, I will sapu all bus tickets and resell it to the public at 100% profit. Sure earn like mad that time... HAHAHA!!!
Yea, good business proposition.

I heard that you can take train to go back to Malaysia at Tanjong Pagar. But it is worth it? Heard that it is the slowest of all modes of transportation.

I am beginning to doubt the internet service here due to many complains I heard.

Currently, I am using wireless@sg. It's free thumbup.gif although I need to walk to mcD everyday to access it. doh.gif

If you wanna buy computer stuffs, don't buy at singapore, go back to KL and buy at lowyat instead (for those who are from KL)... it is about 25% more cheaper after conversion.

I have to agree with that. I surveyed the price of RAMs for my laptop over here and compared it to my hometown. I was shocked when the price of a value ram is much more expensive. shakehead.gif So when I got back to my hometown. I got a branded RAM which has a higher clockspeed and it cost less! laugh.gif

Some of us are only paid below the salary mentioned above but yet we find ourselves surviving here. We are able to save a little (not much). Well, little is better than nothing right? I could earn a lot but yet I spend all of it on pointless stuff ending up without a penny at every end of the month. sad.gif

The important thing is to learn to budget and manage your expenses. Allocate an amount of your salary to be keep as savings. But try not to save too much. As a human, we need to enjoy or relax. So try not to feel guilty if you are spending a little bit for your own consumption. Treat it as a reward for your hard work. thumbup.gif

I tend to notice that humans usually will tend to spend based on their impulse. So beware on what have you spent! Even small penny meant something financially in the long term. laugh.gif

When you save a little, how much is a little to you? Some ppl save 1000 considered a little while others say its alot.
*
Well, it depends on the person and their lifestyle. To be on the safer side, it's best to allocate 15-20% of your salary for savings?

I have heard that there is a saying in economics, "as an individual earns more, the tendency for them to spend is higher". Hm, hmm.gif please correct me if I am wrong. notworthy.gif

Hi all,

I posted this question before but seems like it was drowned among all the posts.

Is the IT industry in Singapore hit hard by the current crisis? What are the chances of getting a programmer job for a TARC degree holder, 1 yr experience with average skill set in .NET?

How many here in IT got their job by travelling down to SG for interview, instead of staying in SG and search for job?
*
Pity you. I got my current job by applying and then traveling down to SG for an interview. I am an IT graduate but unfortunately the job I got is non-IT related. You could stay in SG while looking for a job provided you have any friends/relatives whom you may stay with. Renting a hotel/room here is not cheap. wink.gif

Added on
I just found out that the guy renting the room beside me passed away early this morning due to breathing difficulties and heart failure.

Does anybody do part-time there such as giving tuition besides day job? Or any freelancer? I was thinking if can teach tuition part-time then can at least cover some expenses there.

I was thinking whether are there any flexible part-time job such as waiters. I have some experience working as a waiter. Just would like to pass some time at night as I have nothing much to do. yawn.gif

I dunno why nowadays why so many ppl wanna apply PR. Apply PR only if you intend to work in Singapore for more than 5 yrs. Otherwise, dun apply for PR but instead apply for employment pass.

Talked to some Malaysian over here regarding PR. Applying for PR is the "it" thing and is more like a trend. It's just like having a new cellphone where everybody would like to follow trend. yawn.gif
