Hey bro, im currently a student there - been up and about for about 6+ years like that. Ive fooled around with the BoxxThai in Kedah, the Naga Muay Thai in Gombak and the Thai camps in Koh Lanta & Koh Samui - i can say that, Jak's studio is really good in strengthen my techniques & basics. All tho it's being advertised as Kickboxing - no worries, it is Muay Thai - complete with eye pokes, clavicle / knee / nose bone breaking technique. not Muay Boran as per how some thai camps only teaches foreigners.

They dont do sparring as there's loads of legal implications (kalau mati how's gonna be responsible implications) - hence I travel up to Thailand for full contact sparring.

My honest review is that - the studio methodology concentrate alot on techniques & strengthening your basics without having to pay for private 1-1 lesson, which is quite good and loads of real world street fighting techniques too. i guess, if someone wants to rob you at knife point its better to poke their eyes out rather than risking getting stabbed while throwing an elbow. Eventually, after awhile, as i do - i look to other schools to satisfy my urges to do full contact sparring.

The SJ centre is at SS15, right beside Taylors. at the Corner where starbucks & mcdonalds is.

Cheers man.

Hey Bro, thanks for the feedback. For the time being I think i need to strengthen up my basic. To be honest, for me KickBoxing and Muay Thai wat is the real differences.

Will go and check it out this Weekend.

Thanks BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a little story - back in late 90s, a 10 year old girl who was a student with jak accidently broke her uncle clavicle bone & with a swift hanuman move puncture it to his lungs. so taking that as a lesson - no longer jak teaches full deadly technique to anybody / everyone suka hati.

fitness aside, the MT techniques taught are good if you stay around long enough to move up to phase 3 and above.

now my friend, show me a school here in KL where it teaches you to block a knuckle with a quick elbow where effectively it will puncture / break the tendon on the knuckle to 3-4 pieces?

cheers man.

Really? but my friend said that I cant learn it because he say Im so THIN and wont be able to throw people == and suggest me go learn kendo....kendo at KL == my mum doesnt allow me to go there == Btw did you heard of Aikido Yamada Kota Kemuning Dojo?
*
this is FALSE. aikido is all about the misdirection of energy and reusing towards your opponents. the highest 5th Dan aikido sensei in Malaysia was Allahyarham Haji Mat Darus in Kuching Sarawak. months before he died he was still throwing people around and guess what, he was 80 + years old and he stood at my shoulder level. a tiny thin human being no more than 5 foot high and he can throw 2 big guys at one time.

I hope your friend meant Kempo, because Kendo is sword fighting and Kendo is supplementary martial art - meaning Kendo is a top up skill upon another martial art you already know. remember, you cant bring a shinai, the wooden sword anywhere you go

Added on May 9, 2012, 4:50 pmone more thing. stay away from Muay Fit - if you stay there and watch how they conduct the class damn fail la.

firstly, im really disappointed how they let the juniors just do what ever they want during training. one trainer is talking flirting with the gal at the counter. another main handphone. and one guy is trully teaching but only to one - two guy. he never once addresses the whole class. then its like he's malas malas like that, 2 girls practice uppercut where their uppercut goes all the way to their forehead (this is wrong, palm always stops at your chin to minimise torso exposure) and he was like ok ok that is correct what ever lah

second, the postures the body position the basic basic movement is never integrated properly. my friend who introduced me to muayfit stands with his feet straight forward. comeon, he was there for 2 years and the basic standing posture is wrong. yea they have world champs la or MMA fighters as trainers but not all fighters can teach and not all teachers goes into the ring.

third, its not muay thai - its kickboxing. no hanuman moves, no sneaky moves (illegal in the fighting ring i.e.: eye gorge / pokes, leg breaking arm breaking moves)

i was there not once, but 3 times. still, muayfit doesnt induce any confidence in me
