Hi guys,

I've just purchased a full ICE setup from my friend, it's only used for about 8 months.
He sold it coz he's upgrading to a porsh car.

The whole setup:
1. HU : Kenwood DPX-7090U Click here to view
2. AMP : Memphis 4 channel 16-MC42004 - 300w RMS Click here to view
3. Front : 2 way Component, JBL GTO series, but not sure the exact model
4. Sub : JBL GT4 Series 10" Built with JBL tube - 250w RMS
5. Rear : DynaQuest bass mid speaker DAE-5.25BM & Caliber tweeter

Item 1 to 4 is purchased from my friend. - plus RCA cables, fuse & add-on for ipod.
Item 5, i purchased myself from dragon sound, planning to upgrade the rear speakers later to component.

Setup connection.
Channel 1 & 2 is connected to front component.
Channel 3 & 4 is bridged to SUB.
Rear mid & tweeter is connected directly to HU.

Is it a correct connection & when i touch the AMP it's freekin hot.
There was once the AMP cut off & shut down when i was blasting the music for so long.
Is it because the bridged channel from AMP is 150w RMS & the sub is 250w RMS ?

Anyway, my friend didn't had problem last time because he only listen to music at a very low volume...

Pls advise guys.

Whatever TS paid for the setup is up to him to decide or say, if he's a frequent visitor on these forums & the number of threads he could have read & still bought, consider it a good buy-lol. Now got problem with the ICE, let's see how we can assist him only. Don't look at me-lah, I didn't sell him the set.

moby, i think if we want to help, one of it is to tell him the setup got from his so called 'fren' is not worth 6k. To let him know he kena chop from his 'fren'.

RM6k set.. worth tat much ka..

the 4 channel amp
# RMS Power Ratings:

* 50 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms
* 75 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms
* 150 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms bridged

even my rm500 bought Alpine V12 also 55wx4 le.. 3 months old only.. i oredy feel like i kena cut neck oredy..

i think TS better learn more bout ice than simply buying stuff without knowing the current market price..

the word blasting u use..? u play SPL with this setup or SQL?

ok... system is not worth RM6k there...

but anyway...

first if all... i think if your amp cuts- check the amp gain... lower it down till below 10 o'clock... see if the problem is solved... dun think memphis is so fragile... last i know they are pretty brutal with powers... unless of course you bought the fakes or the amp initially already has problem...

cheers...

2. AMP : Memphis 4 channel 16-MC42004 - 300w RMS - RM1500
3. Front : 2 way Component, JBL GTO series - RM400

about your amp cut problem,

have you check you are bridging with correct terminal on the amp?

how many ohm is your woofer?

did any of the terminal touch chassis ground (maybe inside the door)?

ur amp is lacking power for the woofers....

happens all the time with various 4 channel amps setup the same way as urs....even mine had that problem...cuts off during heavy bass hits or really loud sections of the songs...

setting it up like that also stresses the amp more....making it real hot.

my colleague managed to somewhat minimize this problem by wiring 3*80mm fans to cool down the amp...but still cuts off after 1-2 hours of blasting.

solution, get a dedicated amp for the woofer. i did and havent looked back. blasted for over 5 hours (long drive) and didnt get a single problem...amps stayed quite cool too.

But usually people spend money buy thing, want it to at up to expectation. He spend so much money then get cut off. Of course there's a problem.

Yes bridging an amp will cost more heat. It's not faulty. It's because the amp cannot handle.
