NS twins from what I heard decided to sign new contracts with NS. Sad, turning down the opportunity to face tougher opponents thus improving themselves. Anyway, if they never intended to leave the country, moving to a top MSL team (Kedah hint hint

) would be better for their development, no? No offence to the rest but Kedah's style of football is way different from the rest. For a few years now they've left behind the hideous "clear the ball wildly and then chase it like a mad man" style and replaced it with calm, attacking football. It's hard to not be a Kedah supporter after watching them play.
I personally can't stand those who just slate our local football scene, especially those who never bothered spectating the scene themselves. For years now I've been keeping tabs on Malaysian football. Pre-Selangor treble season was pretty much the typical M-League style of football most of us loathe. But during the Selangor treble season, I've noticed a slight change in the way the football was played. You could see overlapping runs, accurate passes, and calm retention of the ball - unlike the "good old days" when the ball would be kicked back into the opponent's half every time a defender gets a hold of it. Maybe the Indonesian duo, Bambang and Ellie, brought the new way of playing football with them. We can't really know but one can't help but breath a sigh of relief watching the change. "Maybe this is the turning point, maybe this will evolve Malaysian football", I thought.
Sadly Selangor weren't able to repeat the high standards they themselves set previously. But then came Kedah, inspired by Selangor maybe?, bringing fresh talents into the local scene. Talents that are products of early football development, not from the recruitment of amateurs who are already in their twenties which was common in the past. Kids who are given basic football trainings are bound to have more accuracy be it in passing or striking of the ball. No more will we see wild strikes in front of goal, no more will these players' shootings be compared to rugby kicks. Well, even if we can't cut down the numbers of those rugby kicks completely, we've managed to bring down the numbers to an acceptable level.
Those who follow the national team will also notice the huge difference between the old senior team and the current one, with the latter mostly are made up of the U23s - the "new and trained products". Basically what I'm trying to say is there ARE evolutions happening within the local football scene and we should support instead of slating Malaysian football. Even if you can't seem to support them, do them a favour by keeping all your deconstructive comments to yourself. On a lighter side, you can slate the politics clouding M-League all you want lol
