hahaha...

im too very serious, mundurf cap? hahaha but i got those to spare so why not right? and t-amp is so cheap, any slightly better parts will cost more then it tongue.gif, i think Y.C. review is good enough for all of us, better then a exposure amp that cost rm4k?? so now, should i sale it at 3k to make ppl believe this litte thing is really that good!! haaha, thing arent always cheap = no good in this case right Y.C. biggrin.gif

as for the cap, yea im eager in getting it actually..but keep getting sick this 2 weeks, and being really serious today, i wonder if tomorrow ill get all well and go to work..sad.gif

mayb we meet up on wednesday then...probably after work? as im actually not allow to leave office as i please during normal days, tht day was kinda speacial, cos my boss is not in tongue.gif, well anyday tht my boss isnt in i can have tea break, but not leaving the office area sad.gif

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Sep 8 2008, 11:48 PM)
Well said, Ijan.

Xtorm,

Before Exposure Co Ltd demand for a sound-off between my T-amp against their 2010S integrated amp, I’d better qualify myself properly. What I’ve written in Part 4 of my review was "…this is really unbelievable as the resolving ability of my T-amp has now surpassed that of Exposure 2010S integrated amp, a Stereophile Class A component currently being retailed at RM4,300."

Exposure 2010S integrated amp’s power output is 75W into 8Ω / 150W into 4Ω whereas our T-amps are only capable of outputting 7W into 8Ω / 10W into 4Ω (or at best 15W into 4Ω). Exposure amps are very suited for rock music and will drive many average sensitivity loudspeakers to head-banging levels whereas the same could not be said of our T-amps unless loudspeakers used are high sensitivity ones, say 92dB/1W and above.

I’m not into rock music and rarely played my system loud. I had used an Exposure amp before to play all other genres of music at moderate level and here’s where I opined that the T-amp (at least my very own version with a step attenuator) beats the Exposure amp at the resolving ability department. A lot of other commercial amps tend to sound coarse (or noisy) when complex music like Mahler’s Symphonies or multiple voices are played and that’s reason why certain audiophiles only go for closed-mic single vocalist or simple solo acoustic pieces. Remember some who only listened to CaiQin and other 'slow-slow' type of music? Owners of T-amps need not restrict their music to such unless of course they themselves so choose to.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
haha we posted at the same time, so didnt saw your coming at all till now biggrin.gif
well yes, still pretty much in different league in terms of power, but heck, ppl pay lots of money for small wattage amp thumbup.gif

yes even with complicated music, it sounded simple, and when we 1st chat i though you would love the rhythm of this amp but im not sure if im qualified to say so, haha caused i never heard a naim before, im not sure how good is consider a good rhythm amp tongue.gif

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Sep 9 2008, 10:17 AM)
Oh yes, if you read my 4 parts review, you'll notice that I mentioned in Post 1011, "...timing and rhythmic swings are thought to be great". I have also written "Its well-timed rhythmic swing and slightly forward sounding midrange certainly makes listening to music through it addictive enough for me in not wanting to stop listening to more......." in Post 1017.

I'd say the T-amp does PRaT extremely well and music will make more sense to us.

eh what is prat actaully.... biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Hehe..
While away, finally I have some time to think about a lot of things, T-Amp included! tongue.gif More little mods coming up.. wink.gif

Anyway, just got back from 'shopping'.. managed to buy some jazz CDs with 'high resolution recording' wink.gif
It really sounds great/different from the 'normal CDs'.. The shop was using a Cerwin Vega speakers with a BMB sub.. I am sure it will be even better on my T-Amp system!  thumbup.gif
Will post some pictures in my ALL THAT JAZZ thread..

I know xtorm burnt himself out.. He has not recovered huh? Heyy xtorm, you better get in here.. could be 'TWS'- Thread Withdrawal Syndrome'.. hahahaha

Any of you read the T-Amp vs GainClone thread in diyaudio.com? What you guys think? tongue.gif
For the sake of 'fun' and satisfying my curiosity, I might be making one GC see if it's worth the money, like our T-Amp.. I just got hold of a torroid tranny.. time to get the soldering iron HOT again!  laugh.gif
Any of you guys have a GC/Listen to one? tongue.gif
*
haha bro so sorry tongue.gif

i would love to listen to a gainclone, but if price vs perforamnce is the main concern, i sitll vote ta2024 tongue.gif

read tht thread before, some mix review, some say convert form GC to t-amp, some the other way around...hmmm, mayb its mainly the meterial use?

PRaT is short for Pace, Rhythm and Timing.

No doubt Naim gears are always associated with PRaT, some people actually shun them as they also tend to sound harsh too, myself included.

Even for slow songs, when PRaT is done right, we'll be able to follow the piece of music better than with those equipment which fail terribly in this area. Here you are, an article by Martin Colloms on Pace, Rhythm and Dynamics: PRaD which will explain PRaT a little clearer.

oh thts what it means
yea im definitely enjoying some song which i tought "huh?? wat??" hahahaha

QUOTE(jazzy939 @ Sep 9 2008, 12:41 PM)
Hi there fellow T-Amp-ers! biggrin.gif

Looks like I didn't miss much here tongue.gif
No.. I am NOT back yet. Just that I have an internet access where I am at this point of time wink.gif
Can't stay away from the thread for too long huh..  blush.gif

So far, nothing 'new' on our T-Amp scene eh..?

Gabanyayaya, is he buying one since he's joining the club? He has been quiet these past 2-3 days...

The last thing I did before going away to my second board is to install a 10,000uF capacitor across the power supply input. Probably need to 'burn in' that cap too before any sonic improvements/or otherwise is heard! tongue.gif

I have checked the voltage/current drop when playing (really)LOUD.. none detected by my DMM..

Still on power supply, during switch ON the voltage peaks to 19VDC for few milliseconds! Don't know if this would be harmful to my little marvel in the long run. Also during this time, the DC volts across the speaker terminals maxed out about 2.4V, just for a very brief moment. This explains the speaker 'pop'/thump sounds..This worries me more..  sweat.gif

Speakers wise, I momentarily disconnect them before switching ON. Have not come up with anything with the power supply surge...  hmm.gif

Anything on your side guys? Y.C./ongbs/xtorm? Sorry if I missed out anyone else but it's only the FOUR of us?  ohmy.gif
*
2.4v is kinda high...didnt check mine, im on 2.2uf and 1uf input cap, mayb the 10uf is causing the problem? but ur meter rox!!!...hahahaha, cool!!

QUOTE(blah1134 @ Sep 9 2008, 01:36 PM)
what about going capless for the input ?

risky one
*
as jazzy mention....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, hahaha, but some have tried, not sure what was the outcome as they didnt report back, but since lowering the input caps actually makes the sound dry, how will without input cap sound?

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 9 2008, 10:49 PM)
What to do?
You are away and enjoying your "special moment"  brows.gif

Some more xtorm "burnt" by his t-amp, haven't recover yet I believe  doh.gif
*
haha was enjoying my t-amp just now when i went for tapau, and im reminded how good it is again,...but after tht i was enjoying ironman, damn its soo cool!!! sorry for being abscent

hey guys, benq g2200w lcd monitor any good? saw some ppl who actually compare viewsonic va2226w, samsung 2253lw, and he got this to say....

QUOTE
Hammasteen writes...
ViewSonic va2226w

Media-Fire writes...
Samsung 22" 2253LW

Those are the 2 monitors I had the BenQ G2200W running alongside of ... the viewsonic color always looked a little washed out (but they were all run on default settings with zero tinkering) ... the Samsung appeared to have more backlight bleeding too ..

The G2200W was a little darker, but I preferred the look of it's screen to the other two (which is why I recommended them to the above company that installed 12)
