Ok here's my problem.
I see numerous guide saying that E8400 should be able to OC til 3.6 ghz @ stock voltage.
But mine can't even get me into the windows.
I got mine stable running orthos and prime95 @ 1.275vcore.
i tried 3.8 ghz @ 1.325vcore.
Is that too high ?
Anyone using the same configuration as me can guide me ?
Ok my 2nd problem is that when i turn on my pc , the bios health status says my core temp is 35-37 celcius.
When i get into windows i start on core temp it shows my core temp is 50 at idle.
Ok another is that when i change my vcore in bios back to the optimized setting. running @ 3.0.
The core temp programme stil says i idle at 49-50 celcius ! is this posible ?
My bios is only showing 33-35 celcius
But when i use Real-temp and SensorViewPro they show my core temp is at 40 - 42 celcius at idle.
May i know which one is rite and which one is wrong ??
I running on windows vista.

i think it doesnt matter how much is ur vcore as long as u dun go over 1.4v....juz that u need to watch out the temp of the cores...dun use core temp on penryn chips....use real temp instead....its caliberated for penryns....

the OCability depends on ur luck...some can do 3.6ghz on stock vcore some cant....good ones from C0 stepping can do 3.8-3.9ghz on stock vcore iirc... i owned two e8400 before n one of them stucked at 3.33ghz on stock vcore with the same mobo as u are using....while the other can hit 3.6ghz stable with the same mobo.....

basically, it wud be advised not to pump over 1.4v for u e8400.... cos they have been few reports saying that their proc degraded after pumping over 1.4 vcore... personally, i have tried running with 1.4v (cpu-z idle reading) for few days n its still doing fine after a retest.... but do it at ur own risk tongue.gif

as for temp reading, i always take from realtemp for 45nm proc... n my idle normally is around 35-40 with the xigmatek s1283 red scorpion....normally idle temp wud be almost the same compared to the slightly higher vcore....

btw,u stress using blend test or small fft?

did u set ur ram to 1:1 ?
