hi all,

i was playing around with my gf's 3GS and saw that there is tethering available.

im wondering if i jailbreak the phone, will tethering still be usable or will i need to install one of those carrier bundles?

that wouldnt be a problem...mine jb and im using tethering at most of the time....only matters that you should have a data plan..if not the charges are high...

ok thanks, no probs as i have unlimited data plan. because i saw that the carrier bundle is to enable tethering, i suppose this is for those pre-3GS owners?

3GS with latest firmware can just jailbreak and be able to use tether without having to install the carrier bundle, correct me if i'm wrong?

I don't see any big difference between 3.1.2 and 3.1.3. I don't know why u said 3.1.2 is easier than 3.1.3.

Why the upgrades? Because Apple found some bugs or enhancements, hence the upgrade to the firmware. It's not totally different from the latter firmware, IMHO.

You've downloaded the sbsettings but did you download the Data Toggle? It's a separate download from sbsettings to stop the data usage.

hey there,

just wanna find out is there any difference between using the data toggle add-on vs disable 3G and EDGE in sbsettings?

based on the info above, it can be concluded tat the edge toggle was nt a 100% workabt for disabling data, users were facing problems tat data was still active n probably sm battery drain issues...
hence, they came up with a totally new solution, one which addressed those problems n works better than older one...:0

I found out that Data Toggle from Cydia works the best..

ok, thanks for the info guys. really appreciate. will install the data toggle for my gf's phone cause i teach her to disable the EDGE and 3G while not using. so far so good, but i've tested the data toggle and i think it work's better than disabling EDGE and 3G. but i realise when i enable the data toggle again, it sort of like restarts my radio.

anyways, not much prob for me cause i'm on unlimited data. just wanna make sure my gf's ivalue 100 plan doesn't exceed.

u guys prefer backgrounder or proswitch?

im using backgrounder. i find it relatively simple to use.

i fixed my skype and papago gps to be permanent all the time. then when im done using just use sbsettings process to kill it.
