THanks for sharing with us your condition. Well, if your derma said that your hair loss is affected by dandruff that is not entirely untrue. You see, in med terms hair loss can be cause by a varying of conditions and circumstances. As for dandruff, it is usually caused by over production of sebum (oil) by your hair follicle's oil glands that cause the scalp skin to peels off. That is in fact showing that your hormone levels are imbalanced.

As dead skin (dandruff) can in fact assists in your hair loss by blocking your scalp to breath and absorb treatment properly (dead skin cannot breath) it's possible that it can trigger your growing hairs to fall off too. But you have to remember that hairs falling off from dandruff problem is not related to Pattern Baldness. PB is caused by genetically affected hormones known as DHT that minituarizes your hair follicles and shorten your hair growth and eventually after years you will see a pattern of hair loss based on the Norwood Chart.

The reason there is a pattern is because DHT only affects the crown and front part of your scalp but the sides are not affected because they are genetically resistant to the effects of DHT. So if you have a Pattern of Hair Loss, then DHT is the main cause.

The first step to stop Pattern Baldness is to stop DHT and then use vitamins and a few steps to help your hair grow back. As this won't take weeks or months, expect a long term plan of at least 1 to 2 years since you are already in Stage 3 for a full recovery.

Start your treatment with Propecia (for men only) and also Minoxidil for maximum effectiveness. Get yourself a good mild or organic shampoo and make sure you don't wax or gel your hair to prevent further unnecessary hair loss. Then try reducing stress and find alternatives that can boosts your hair. This is the only solution for hair loss unless you want to go for a hair transplant.

Make sure you follow the treatments as advised by your doctor and if you don't have an underlying illnesses that can cause hair loss, your chances of recovering back up to 80% of the hair you lost will be quite satisfactory.

Regards,

Calvin

I am just wondering if the planting hair surgery has been introduced in malaysia. Saw from magazine that hk has already had this surgery. It is known to be very effective. Only take half and hour to complete the operation. Hair will grow naturally after the operation.

Normally started with propecia +minoxidil.
For shampoo, if a shampoo like Selsun Blue, or even any shampoo that is currently u use in the market taht is not snesitive to ur scalp will be OK...since it is not the most importnat part if u suffer from MPB.

Welcome to my blog belwo and find out more.
Ia m taking Propecia as well..

Well if you are looking for a hair transplant surgeon the best way to get one is Singapore.Singapore has been involved in plastic surgery as well as other cosmetical options like hair transplants. Here in Malaysia, I am not sure whether they have that kind of facilities to accommodate it at the present moment.

Dear Jae,

If you are looking for a hair loss treatment like Propecia, you will need a prescription from your doctor first to evaluate your condition whether is it suitable for your condition. For Minoxidil, it's recommended that men should take the 5% while women should consider using the milder 2%. As for shampoo, if you have dandruff problems, you can try Nizoral Shampoo..but it's hard to source in Malaysia though..so if you can't find one consider looking for shampoo with herbal properties like rosemary, biotin, panthenol, aloe vera and such. If you want a good one, try body shop because most of their products are organic..very suitable for hair loss.

From your post, I have to said Yun Nam did a good job by branding their hair care. In fact, how can a hair care center turn its 99% failure rate to the Malaysia brand in hair care? I really think it should be put in MBA case study.
Read this if you don't know the truth of Yun Nam

It's really simple how Yun Nam works...they charge cheap..people go in..do first few treatments for low price and then they start to psycho you...to pay more for this and that..they are targeting desperate people with desperate needs...that is to overcome their hair loss problems..they may initially use some products that can thicken your hair but at the end you will lose thousands because it's too costly for you to continue the treatment...

based on your words, exprience and age, i believe that your hair loss isssue is mainly due to the hormonal imbalance and stress. The best way is to get a second opinion from other doctors. There are a few doctors who give good result on hair loss such as Ranjit Singh in SS15 Subang Jaya, Dr Alice from Bangsar, Dr Sasi Dharan from Sri hartamas and etc.

To stop hair loss or to get hair regrowth, you need at least 3-6 months to see some results. Result are usually slow and a lot of patience needed.

HI, may I know if we can use Minoxidil straight without consulting a dermatologist first? From the previous posts, it seems like Minoxidil can only be used on head that still have hair. My husband's hair is thinning, (not totally balding) from the left and right side of forehead, moving towards the middle, so is he having a Male Pattern hair loss and in this case, can use Minoxidil?
