Hi,

Yes, 3D2N is not enough,even if its 4D3N you will need to sacrificed your midnight for studying/quiz . Normally you have to do 5 Confined Water Dives & 4 Open Water Dives and also 5 Sessions of Knowledge Development (which you need to study)...

And of course, you can do your course at pool, but you still have to go for 4 open water certification dive trip. By doing your course at a confined pool,  you can save a lot of times and worries...So during your open water dive, you can already get used to it...
P/S : Most of the dive master would recommend that you take your license in confined pool. So that before you go for your open water trip, they would already analyst your problem/mistaken and could correct you before trip, and also save your time doing everything in 4 days... My advise is, the same  biggrin.gif

I am very interested in taking the padi open water cert. I was thinking of 5 days 4 nights trip to perhentian. i am worry about the knowledge development question ! Is it very hard? is the quiz multiple choice or short answer questions? i definitely do not want to stress my self up burning mid night oil at pulau perhentian . lol

thx for ur suggestion, i am having second thoughts now about doing a crash course on the island ^^ . might consider going to a dive center and complete the knowledge development as well as confined dive first. i will check out dragonet diving nex week ... any other dive centre to recommend?

i have already booked accommodation and air tix for perhentian end of May b4 school holiday. it's not the cheapest coz my friend wants a slightly more comfortable accmmodation!

i got a quotation from a dive centre in pj and it's rm950 for padi open water.... isit expensive? is it possible to get 850 or 900, preferbly around pj or subang area.

very important reminder for those planning to do the Open Water Diver course. There is a minimum of 18 hours before you can fly after your last dive. But i recommend 24 hours
So please plan your schedule accordingly.

Hi all,

Im going to take the PADI diving license (Open Water) next Saturday at Kota Kinabalu. I have received its training materials and very nervous on the theory examination.
For those who have sat for the theory exam, was it very hard?
Any tips or sample questions?

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Lisa

i just got my licence last month. exam was initially my concern , no it's not difficult. i think it's easy. if u r not comfortable, pls study the dive manual b4 ur exam. my fren didnt study at all got higher than me!

anyhow, the exam, even if u fail, u can retake till u pass. no worries. u should be more concern on the practical skills than theory!

sorry, i do not know anywhere better to ask this question. i found one cheap open heel fin but the shop does not have booty of my size anymore. can i buy the fin without trying it with the booty? or is it better to just forget about the fin and get a booty else where first.

what size is your feet?
a GENERAL guideline is as follows:

S = Size 4 to 6
M = Size 7 to 9
L = Size 10 to 12

if you are anywhere above and below those range you'll need those odd sized fins and i would advice you against buying 2nd hand fins.
btw how much is cheap anyway?
fins are very very subjective. get the right one you'll enjoy the dive, get the wrong one you'll curse the day you bought it.
my advice is get feedback on the model from diver you know. best yet beg, borrow or steal and then try it out before deciding.

i am female size 6-7, i guess i can get M. It's a mares fin, not sure which model selling at rm 230 (i think) ... and it's brand new... i can try it at the shop, but they ran out of stock on booties my size, so i hav to try it without booties. not sure if it's risky to buy it without trying wit booties first. icon_question.gif

it is risky without the booty...
i am using M but my size is 9, fits me perfectly but i do know some people who are size 7 who feels my fins are a bit loose. I am using the volo btw.
anyway hobi sports is clearing their stocks cause their distributorship of mares products will end this month.
you can still purchase it from rainbow runner next month.
plus MIDE is just next week. I am sure there will be some deals then.

Don't rush to a decision. Take your time

I guess I'll go with semi-strict instructors. At least I know where I went wrong underwater.

couldnt agree less! i think semi strict DIs are the best. my frens got a really really strict DI and after attending their first confine pool training, they dreaded to go for the second time.. sigh! doh.gif
