Guys, I am budgeting 3 meal/day at Pulau Weh RM20.. is that enough..? I heard food quite expensive there...

Saw in youtube some found mola-mola aka sunfish and dolphin while diving around Pulau Weh... I hope can see those fishes on my trip. *finger crossed* even the possibility is very low... lol.

The underwater hot spring make me excited too...

Indonesia few days ago... very nice hilly island and quite big too... full of trees.. some weird rules or culture related to sea activities. Dive experience wise, as a new diver, I found that the current is quite strong.. but useful learning experience for me. Some dive site is really nice with huge rock and colorful coral. Marine life, I think its better than Tioman. Really worth to go Pulau Weh and the flight ticket also cheap to Banda Aceh. Very good alternative dive destination. The visibility is also very2 good especially on hot sunny day. I did 2 dive in rainy day, but still the visibility is good.

Friday can be considered as off day, we went round island with local (our dive guide) to many nice place on the island using motobike.. We paid around RM17 per person for few hours round island; must go places such as Pantai Sumur Tiga, Benteng Jepang and Kilometer Nol. The meal next to my our dive center was also cheap.. fried noodle/rice less than RM5...

many divers said it not worth dive @ payar... i think better you go to Koh Lipe, Thailand just 1 hour boat from Langkawi but around RM200+ return.

I dont have any experience diving Pulau Payar... no comment on that, I speak from my reading on the internet and youtube videos.

FYI, from Malaysia to Koh Lipe, there is only ONE place/jetty you can go to... which is from Langkawi, and it is the fastest way... from Malaysia you have to go to Langkawi before you can 'end up' in Koh Lipe... unless you go from Thailand.

I am just giving an opinion since the island is 1 hour away from langkawi and much more dive sites...there are many resorts too.

You dont have to be a good swimmer to be a diver.. In case you dont know, every diver will be equiped with BCD (jacket that can help you float), so dont worry give it a try.. Im sure you will appreciate more and your are closer with marine life.

TUSA brand it quite expensive to me.. and you need to add prescription lens some more... I personally bought IST mask and snorkel + prescription lens for RM180 only at MIDE 2011. Since you dont go snorkeling often, why buy branded or expensive one.. I bought it from Scubatex.

Bro, if raining season, you can always go to Sabah, KK or Tawau, but Tawau air ticket is expensive. OR you can go to Pulau Weh, Acheh, Indonesia. buy promo ticket you can get below RM200 retun. Went to Pulau Weh last December and it was awesome. moray everywhere. haha. OR islands on southern Thailand such as Koh Lipe, around 1hour from Langkawi by boat or can go through Hatyai by road and boat at Pak Barra jetty.

happen to my on my afternoon dive at Sugar Wreck, Perhentian.. This site is great but water keep flooding my mask and I have to do blow some air through nose to force the water out.. and its keep foging.. and water coming again.. ruin my 1st experience to Sugar Wreck a bit.. sore my eyes too...

I think my mask keep fogging that time because I dry it out in hot sunny day before the dive.. I think that the cause. When we go deeper and get colder and the mask is still have the heat; its cause the fog. Same with camera.. if you put in hot sunny day and then you take dive with you the lens most probably will be fog as you go deeper.

I don't think we need to leave the mask in cold water, just in room temperature will do.. this is because my mask was okay during my 1st dive in the morning before I put it in the sun before the 2nd dive... wear it on 2nd dive... start fogging and flooding.. forget to put anti-fogging. and when you on boat avoid direct sunlight for you mask and camera too..

from the picture, the coral looks like starting to bleach... see the tip of the coral it turn to white. bad sign.

Guess this is your 1st dive after your course..? I'm also new in diving, almost a year now.. 17 dives so far.haha.. hurmm, don't you think it was current that made your struggle..? Or maybe you finning technique..? Usually I don't use full leg power, unless there is a current. In no or mild current I just leave the ankle to the finning. I watch and learn how the seniors divers or dive guide fin and I try it. it should be slow and relax.

wah Bali terus.. haha.. Been to Bali once but not yet have a chance diving there...I am most probably to Bali again this 14-22 Nov 2012.. I did a some survey and plan to dive at Tulamben with Matahari Tulamben Resort, Dive & Spa... the price is quite reasonable.. if I'm not mistaken it near to US Liberty Ship Wreck.
Fyi -Tulamben is far from Kuta.

I think Mabul/Sipadan/Kapalai is better for beginner & superb visibility.
