I use contact lens too when diving . Taking off the mask is one of the requirement when you take the course, I'm not sure about discovery dive though. Just open your eyes a lil bit(wide enough for you to see things), your lens wont get wash away

I was there last July and the water was consistently warm (some say about 29C). Quite a number of divers went in with just a rash guard and board shorts so I think it is very much doable. We even had a girl go down in her bikini bottom, though I wouldn't recommend that (scratches etc.).

Most of the dive sites in Anilao are on the shallow side (10-15m) so the water doesn't get too cold. I'd rate it to be even warmer than Redang.

One of the pygmy sites is about 32-34m, so if she plans on lingering around there for long, she might want to put on a suit for that site.

That's for July la. Can't say for sure if the same applies for April

Yea I wear contacts but I have my own prescription mask also. You don't have to open eyes actually. Just have to remove and put back the mask. Can do it with your eyes close. I'm not sure if discovery will require you to remove mask underwater or not.

I do not dare to open eyes underwater when I'm wearing contacts. Usually if close eyes very tight also eyes will sting a little but it wouldn't affect my contacts. I use daily contacts when I dive for more moisture and easy to handle. Anything wrong just open another pair. Few dives a day in contacts can make the eyes very dry.

Best is to inform your instructor/dive master that you are wearing contacts when he briefs you about what you will be doing underwater. Tell him you are not comfortable with opening eyes underwater, they'll understand.
