Okay I bought one last year ... and it worked fine. Installed and everything on my laptop. I got it because I can only access the internet on campus with it, seeing that the wireless on campus is username and password protected. I then reformatted my comp this summer because it was falling apart and in dire need of one anyway. Now it won't install.

I gave up then ... and tried again tonight ... which is months later. Now my laptop doesn't even detect my adapter when plugged in. You know that sound the comp makes when you plug hardware in? That low beep followed by a higher one? Yeah, now it plays a low beep followed by a lower one and my comp fails to detect it anywhere. I was running the install drivers and when it asked to plug the adapter in, I did ... but an error popped out demanding that I shove my adapter in. But it was already in! so my installation ended with an application error, since my comp couldn't detect the adapter.

Is there any reason why it's doing this? Does this mean I have to get a new one?

My computer doesn't even detect the adapter!
