Growing On Ground.

When a plant or tree is growing on ground, I mean unrestricted grow, with all the goodness of mother earth and without pruning,
undoubtedly that will be the best and fastest way to achieve good trunk size and good nabri.
Again, here's some tips from bonsai4me on fieldgrowing.

Hi bonsai lelong
Very nice trees. The pots are nice as well but ny personal taste is to find a slightly shallower pot if i want to display this tree. Its perfect though if i want to grow and develop it.

For me also, i like glaze pot for decidious and earthen pots for conifers. Also masculine trees for masculine pots and feminine tree for feminine pots. Buxus however is inbetween in  both aspects. So perhaps some painting in the pot helps.

However the best if you got time. Reduce and wrap the rootball. Bring it to the nursery and pot in pot before choosing the best pot. This is what i will do.. 😉 Your eye is the best guide.

Hi CJ,

Thanks for all the info.
This is only a try out. After photographing, the boxwood went back to the original big flower pot "coz I want it to grow
faster and bigger. Next time I'll try on a glaze pot.

Nice looking tree bonsailelong. The deeper pot looks more balanced to me. I wonder if it will look nice if planted more off center?

Another Semi Restricted Growing condition - Juniper Shimpaku Cascading

2 Juniper Shimpaku look something like this started from branch cutting.......

Attached Image

3 years after planting in a baseless tall garden pot placed on a concrete pipe filled with soil
materials and roots of the juniper can actually grow into the ground.

The second photo of the Juniper is after some trimming. At the rate they are growing, hopefully the main trunk
can reach up to 3 inches in another 4 years' time.

The Malaysian Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibition and competition 2014

The above event happening from 12th to 14 Sept 2014 at the VIVA Home Mall at Kuala Lumpur.
This exhibition is not only a successful one but also shown the improvement and high standard of Bonsai and
suiseki in our country.

With my half pass six photographing skill and equipment, I shamefully share some shots taken during my visit to the exhibition. blush.gif

Starting with Wrightia Religiosa (shui mei)

This will give you the idea how much the exhibition tree (Wrightia) might cost.
