WoW! What a holiday season! That means more time with my bonsai! My Cascading Wrightia religiosa, I don't know why it's leaves are turning yellow, probably due the weather is too hot! Something wrong with it's roots? or what? Anyhow, it's time for repotting and some style improvement. No sign of root problem After some root pruning, wiring and branch adjustment, slight foliage trimming, then planted in a smaller cascading pot ..... Another cascading Wrightia religiosa, not only leaves started turning yellow colour but tree barks is also dryng up and cracking. As usual, checking the roots...... seen ok Did a little root pruning, apply some tree bark hormone to the cracked portion hoping that it will help, changed the soil materials and replanted back to the same pot. |

Murraya Paniculata - Orange Jasmine First step to become a bonsai. At time of full bloom. Flowering time over. After a hard morning dug up work.... First round of trimming and planted in a big training pot. Second round of trimming...... ........ With almost 90% of the foliage chopped off, I think it might take up to 2 months for new shoots to appear and up to a year before an initial styling can be done. |

QUOTE(autocat @ Aug 8 2014, 07:04 PM) Hi, I m looking for volcano soil but sanfong is out of stock. Anyone has balance and willing to sell me around 10L of volcano soil... preferably kl/kepong/pj area. Thanks a lot. Ooh... running of of stock! I'm actually thinking of sometimes within the week I might drop at Sanfong to buy another bag. It seen like this half a bag I'm having at the moment has become something "precious". Sorry bro, not selling my volcanic soil but if you managed to buy somewhere, please let me know. This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Aug 10 2014, 02:26 PM |

Working On Garden Material again - Casuarina The Casuarina tree that I've in the material yard. Air layered 4 branches a couple of months ago, but only 3 branches made it. Here's the results. First one, long branch, doesn't look impressive. Second one, big and bushy, cut and reduced size. Third one, smallest of all the 3. |

Garden Material con't - Juniper shimpaku This is a young 3 years old juniper propagandized from branch cutting. It has only a 3/4 in diameter trunk, big busy foliage but good looking semi cascading shape. By right it should be allowed to grow longer on ground to achieve bigger trunk size. But on second though, it's not bad to train it into a semi cascading or cascading bonsai. And so potted, let it first grow steadily in the pot then initial shaping will start. |

An Old Juniper. This is a very old unknown specie of Juniper. Diameter of trunk at base is approx 3.5 ins. A part of the tree bark shrunk, dried and drop off by itself. there are plenty of dry branches for dead wood or shari. The pot used look too deep compare to the trunk. This is my first step in trying to train this old Juniper to become a bonsai with sharis, suitable proportion of foliage in compare with the trunk and eventually repot into a suitable pot.
