Pretty sure smile.gif Btw you might wanna read up a little on "rules of third" if you haven't .. i notice your tower is in the middle and your horizon for the last pic is also in the middle ...

yeah i used to take shots like that, everything in the middle lol. i've checked out goldfries' site for the rule of thirds, found it very interesting but i still haven't really tried it out in all situations. like for this case, how exactly would i place the tower or the horizon the one of the thirds?

not too sure about the tower coz i cant see the bottom much .. but for the sunset .. show more of the sand .. coz there is nothing much in the sky .. whereas the texture of the sand seems interesting ... the empty top space in ur pic is often called as "passive space" i think .. or something like that ... never have empty space which shows nothing in ur pic ... at least not more than 1/3

oh ok thanks, but when i took the pic i thought that both the sky and sand are also "passive space" blink.gif but yet i wanted to include the ferris wheel and the sunset so ended up have to take in too much of the top and bottom as well. i guess it would be better if it was a panoramic shot?

something like this?

I think composition wise, both pictures are ok. As for the sunset pic of the tower, you should have cropped off the sign board on the lower right edge! The other sunset pic at the pier, straighten the horizon lah.. senget dy!

Wonder if you're studying at LJMU tongue.gif Anyway, do head to Southport (stop by at Frosby). You can get a day saveaway ticket for 4.30 pounds only. Very very nice! See my Flickr page for some photos from Southport.

here's another 2 shots taken at night, in a moving bus sweat.gif any tips for situations like that? my friend told me to use a setting in manual mode, can't remember it off hand lol but that's how the pictures looked like after using this mode but i found that there's quite a lot of noise in other pictures.

hehe yes i know that, although i'm quite shocked to see most ppl still do leave the flash on. also i increased the shutter speed so that it snaps the picture faster (correct me if i'm wrong, still noobie haha)

the main problem with flash, is you'll see a big glare/reflection on the window! doh.gif

Did u not use flash? I hoping u say u did not and hoping as well u did not use ur DSLR coz the pics were weak.

Pics were OOF, blur, not sharp and many pbvious mistakes made. Did u put ur shutter too low?

Jump up ur shutter speed to at least 100 n use ur flash gun. wink.gif

no worries, i was hoping i could at least get some decent shots but since i couldn't maybe you guys can give me some advice for my ixus 40? tongue.gif problem is they just move so fast and all the modes i used ended up blur. think using the 'kids and pets' mode would help? the kids and pets is for fast moving objects. but i tried auto, manual and portrait, all with and without flash although i don't notice much difference between them.

I also agree it is the limitation of equiptment and suggest him to upgrade to dSLR... cool2.gif

Anyway, soon you will see some acting-like-pro moderator (who keep thinking he is better than everyone) telling to upgrade skill first, expensive camera are stupid etc... Hahaha... LOL... doh.gif

But if you see the acting-like-pro pictures, you will see how pro he actually is... laugh.gif

lol thanks guys.. but i got no money for dslr yet, so have to make use with my ixus 40 only.

the flash is really weak wan, and from so far away, had to zoom to 3x which is the max and normally quality won't turn out so good at that distance. aih.. but at least still not too bad when taking outdoor pictures using daylight.
