I don't remember when was the last time I used my 17-40L to shoot anything important. This shows that I really don't need UWA.

Thanks guys ^^ You used this? http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto/downloads/raw.aspxIt doesn't support 40D or newer cameras. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Aug 6 2008, 06:20 PM |

The closest thing that I can make is install Windows Live Gallery and Canon RAW codec. Live gallery is a bit buggy when viewing RAW; it will process non-stop attempting to load the RAW but the photo will remain pixelated.
Still failed to let the RAW load in thumbnail. |

QUOTE(Xannava @ Aug 6 2008, 09:11 PM) Each RAW is about 10MB in size. Compared to 3MB of JPEG, the reading time will be longer.QUOTE(wjie20 @ Aug 6 2008, 09:54 PM) Canon DPP.QUOTE(Pennywise @ Aug 6 2008, 10:10 PM) Woww... this is amazing. Has anyone tried it? Not compulsory to install Canon software. You can use Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. Adobe software renders the RAW image quite closely to Canon DPP.Added on August 6, 2008, 10:14 pmSorry if this is a newbie question. When we take raw, we can still adjust brightness and saturation, etc, yes? Do we need to install the Canon CD software to do that or what? RAW gives you a lot of choice to adjust picture parameters. Brightness and saturation is just one of the many options. QUOTE(goldfries @ Aug 6 2008, 11:33 PM) Thanks! I love you man! OMG... It's damn fast! Faster than JPEG thumbnailing! I use GP Recycko, similar to eneloop. Can last for many shots and low discharge rate. Just RM90 for 4 pcs with charger; much cheaper than uniross.

E-TTL II is useful for event shooting. No time to perform trial-and-error. Manual is for me to play around during my leisure time, just like prime lens.

QUOTE(Petre @ Aug 8 2008, 12:30 AM) Of course. 580EX II is the best in Canon flash line up.QUOTE(wjie20 @ Aug 8 2008, 12:31 AM) So, if say I would adjust the flash so that it's not directly on the subject, more like bouncing of the ceiling or something. Would the flash still take the reading? The flash will still use E-TTL II when bouncing flash. The flash unit will emit a preflash to predict power level. The preflash is so fast that you don't realise it.Or this is when I should play with shutter speed, ISO and Aperture? This post has been edited by mengsuan: Aug 8 2008, 12:39 AM |

QUOTE(wjie20 @ Aug 8 2008, 12:47 AM) Ah, and don't forget the 360 degree turn. Yeah, sure. Don't be frightened with all the fancy looking panel. It's actually easier to use than built-in flash. It gives more consistent output. So, if I buy a flash...I can just leave it on E-TTL and slot it on my camera and start using it? |
