Will update once I get back home from Singapore. This will be the a perfect example on why official unlocked iPhones are the only way to go.

Well string... pls do update us on the changes you discover after you apply F/W 2.0.1.
Thanks... icon_rolleyes.gif

Updated to 2.0.1 - lost all the 3rd party apps (for the time being, till the devs figure this out). However performance is improved a lot! Now I don't have stuck keyboard/random hangs and applications are smoother now!

Apple does not always specify the changes it makes in minor software updates. As such, the company leaves users guessing and trying to decipher those changes on their own. Some user-discovered changes in iPhone/iPod 2.0.1 include:

-You can now drag an app icon across multiple pages in one motion, rather than having to drag it, drop it, pick it up again and drag it over to next page, and repeat.
-Contacts are now more responsive.
-After installing 2.0.1, each successive backup is much faster.
-Apple may have changed the calibration of the iPhone's reception "bars" while connected to a 3G network to reflect a stronger signal than before.
-Keypad loads quicker.
-Screen rotation in Safari appears to be smoother.
-Some apps may ask to be updated after the firmware upgrade.

Okay, updated the Aifontriji to 2.0.1 and everything went as expected. The unlock remains, which means the status of the unlock will remain for the duration of its entire life. Operational-wise, the phone IS DEFINITELY snappier, with dialpads and keyboard springing into action faster and keyboard taps registering instantly compared to 2.0.

All my apps, contacts, iCal, SMSes, everything is intact, I suppose the data is pulled from the backups done before.

But seriously, the best improvement about this update is the speediness of the whole thing. It is now as responsive , if not better, than the Aifonej.

totally agree with stringfellow and KucingKelabu...

my iPhone runs a lot smoother than before...that's a very notable improvement in firmware 2.0.1...

@stringfellow, could you please check your baseband in you Aifontriji...because I've read somewhere, 2.0.1 update for iPhone 3G will update the baseband as well...

I got the 1st gen iPhone and my baseband remains 04.05.04_G...what about yours??

thanks

just another remarks for the 2.0.1 update (my phone is 3G 8gb unlocked). Safari is much much more stable..

my Safari "hanged" at least once a day before the upgrade, and I have to "force reset" the phone. But now it seems like the problems solved.. only encountered once "jump out" to home screen when zoom in zoom out in sin chew daily (for testing purpose..) It is definitely more stable now..

Nope...you can update to 2.0.1...it will remains unlocked...

But only if you do have 1st gen iPhone..as the dev team said, upgrading 3G iPhone will upgrade the baseband as well, and this perhaps makes iPhone 3G unlockable in the future

You can upgrade it via itunes.

If you have pwned your phone before, it will remain unlock on Fw 2.0.1. Sadly, there's no jailbreak yet. Basically FW 2.0.1 are bug fixes for the buggy FW 2.0.

If you have custom your phone with softwares, you may want to wait for awhile before upgrading till jailbreak is available.

I would suggest that if you're gonna upgrade to FW 2.0, use the latest winpwn or pwnagetool as it will jailbreak and unlock your phone. Cydia will be installed and only a hand full of apps on FW 2.0 and Installer 4 is in beta stage.

With FW 2.0.1, you're basically stuck with the default settings of the phone..No Cydia or any 3rd party apps yet. Most of us 1st gen users are holding off upgrading to Fw 2.0.1.

YEP..just plug your iPhone and click update...iTunes will do the rest for you...

But this applies only for an already PWNED iPhone...Those iPhone unlocked with Ziphone, iLiberty cannot just update like that coz you need to neuter your baseband first using Pwnage..

Hi Guys,

I'm gonna Pawn my 2G phone to 2.00 later then to 2.01 but before I do that I have 1 question remaining.
My iTunes is v7.7. Question is, do I need to update it to v7.7.1 to upgrade my iPhone to 2.01?

Thanks a million!

Your current iTunes 7.7 is good. Don't need to upgrade. But a word of caution is that 2.0.1 has no 3rd party softwares yet and you will be restricted to the default iphone. However, you have Appstore.

As my previous post, i would recommend that you pwn to FW 2.0.0 only since Cydia is available. It may be buggy but still good. Also, there's Winterboard to customise your phone which you can download from Cydia and other apps from Bigboss etc..plus AppStore too.
