Just finished up my little project, externalising the 360 DVD drive and adding fans, great cooling but super noisy, not to mention ugly tongue.gif. Pics:

Ya dude it did, the GPU heatsink is much cooler now. Before this it would be blazing hot, even with the stock fans at max speed.

btw,do you set up the gpu fan to blow air into the heatsink or sucking air away from the heatsink?I got almost the same setup as yours and i put the gpu fan to blow air into the heatsink, same also as cpu fan.The exhaust fan will then suck all the hot air out.I'm just curios wheter it'll be bad setup.I use an external 12v adapter for the extra fans.Btw,the dvdrom power cable,is it custom made or you purchase it somewhere?

Yep, the fan on top of GPU is blowing air onto the heatsink. It's identical to the setup used in desktop PCs, so I don't see a problem. The power cable I made myself. Basically just extend the old power cable wires.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm planning on making a case out of wood or plastic, then wiring an eject button and an LED from the mainboard.

err.. i think the fan should sucking the heat from heatsink.. that's more better because heatsink suck hot air from the gpu, then u suck the hot air from the heatsink to outspace.. hehehe.. just my opinion

I doubt that would allow proper airflow, since the stock fans are already blowing out hot air, it would be much more functional for the extra fans to blow in cool air. Check this crappy doodle I made to get a clearer picture of what I'm trying to say:

Yeah, as long as the temperature doesn't go up to crazy levels it should be just fine.
