As promised, here is some tips for N82 GPS user...

Small note on N82 GPS

1. Battery can last ~ 4.5 - 5 hours
2. Integrated N82 GPS have frequent "Lost Satellite Reception". It happens after using more than 2hours, or bad weather, or on heavy tinted windscreen, or inside the tunnel doh.gif ~ suck!!! dammit cry.gif
3. Lost Satellite Reception normally able to reconnect in less than 10seconds to few minutes... lucky thumbup.gif or worst might lost the satellite forever rclxub.gif Shut down/Restart the phone will not help on reconnection... nothing much u can do... mad.gif
4. I found AGPS not so great on N82 sweat.gif , after Lost Satellite Reception it is harder to reconnect. Better stick with GPS only
5. Once you experience lost satellite reception, u can expect u will get another 30-50 connection lost... %$$##&**^%%$()*&&^.... this mean time to rest whistling.gif

Small note on Malsing maps

1. Work very well on town and city
2. The maps are not details as expected on rural area (dont expect much)

Small note on Garmin

1. If the system prompt "Turn Right/Left after 600meter", u better use your own judgment, intelligent, and some road sign to decide yourself when to turn. As the GPS Update sometime will lag for few second and might cause u to miss the turn. On highway, u r as good as dead...
2. Dont cancel recalculate route!!! else u need to reselect your destination.
3. Dont use Garmin route if u know which route to use. Like going to Kelantan, the system will try use the coastal road. If u know you can reach Kelantan via "Gua Musang" road. U must select Gua Musang first and change it to Kota Bharu on the second half of the road.
4. The car something on the road will heading opposite direction and will cause the garmin to "recalculate" the route. This happen quite frequently.
5. If the GPS lag for few minutes (yup! this is really long), garmin will recalculate again... annoy
6. On 7:05AM Garmin will turn to day mode... 7:25PM Garmin will turn to night mode wub.gif

---
so much for today... if i can think of something... i will continue write/edit on this post

added to main site, one thing is when i use n81 malsing map with external gps, dam freaking smooth, just now i drive around and test gps and got a little lag .... sad.gif
*
what kind of GPS model you are using? and how much??

i have actually tested N82's GPS around KL before going outstation, it is very smooth as you said...
but once outside KL, things goes terrible wrong...
"Lost Satellite Reception" (**&&* this word till now is in my dream

well overall having GPS still great, it manage to bring me to the destination i never been in my whole life rclxms.gif
you just need to use little common sense and some sign board along the road, GPS is jus an assistance...

with this i already save some buck on the maps

I am using Holux M-1000 before this. The signal dam good lol at home i get full signal, now n82 cant even get a satelite signal lol.

Actually most useful is the map software, gps is just receiving coordinate and the software is the one who tell us where to go etc tongue.gif
my install the POI for speed trap and roadblock, quite useful tongue.gif haha

where u get teh POI i wan also tongue.gif

added to main paige~
*
how much is this unit?
i think the oni drawback is the bluetooth...
N82 wont have enuf power to keep track of this unit sad.gif
---
seriously, im thinking N82 GPS is not really suitable for traveling...
good for GeoTag on photo or on pedestrian

anyway if i were to rank this GPS, i will give 60%...
just enuf to pass, still good enuf rite? icon_rolleyes.gif
kekekeke

btw im using Malsing original POI... any Gold Version will do

Buddy u should have tried the nokia map 2.0 is much better can say 10x better than the previous wan. Althought it somehow uses gprs charge however that is to keep track on ur location. I have tried travel in the car 100km/hour without any disturbance.
*
i think it have nothing todo with GARMIN or Nokia 2.0...
---
if using GPRS and got charges mean is using AGPS...
yup, i have activated my AGPS
---
the real problem is "Lost Satellite Reception" ~ something todo with the GPS chip in N82
not strong...
it is working fine but i can said it is under perform during bad weather, indoor, tunnel and heavy tinted windscreen...
more over i m thinking if using for too long, the chip will lost track of satellite ~ too hot?? no idea...

note: i m still happy with integrated GPS in N82, we all know standalone GPS is definitely better
something like standalone camera vs camera phone... smile.gif

that is why you must learn how to use the EQ tongue.gif
*
having EQ is definitely good, but if gonna tune each genre... this is suck

buy a better earphone and set neutral for EQ... u will get the same taste
some earphone perform better on bass and some more musical or vocal
choose which type of music u like more with the correct earphone, then u will love it

im using Mylar x3i ~ it have vocal, clarity and enuf bass for all genre

actually with practice you can set a general EQ that works across most genres.
i have done studio mastering work before so i roughly know what to do.

btw, im using shure SCL-2 which can be used for studio monitoring work, which means it should give an almost flat frequency response, but i still EQ.
*
wow nice stuff...

anyway im not againt EQ, afterall EQ is develop for more personal taste
if u like EQ, u better choose LCG Jukebox player... cool.gif
i think this is the best player so far...

fyi im using nokia music player, coz hv more integrated control sweat.gif

I notice most (if not all) of the N82 users who have hardware problems are AP sets. Hang, LCD screen, gap, etc.  hmm.gif

Anyone using authorised set ("original") has problem with their N82 ?

Note: I remember there is a way to hack the standby menu to add/remove some lines. But it is a bit risky, have to search back.  whistling.gif

I have installed/uninstalled 100+ apps/games. Recently, when I click contact and try to edit details, it hang. Need to press End Call (red button) and click Contacts again. Finally take out the micro-SD and Contacts work fine. Fast. So I plug the micro-SD into USB card reader and perform Defragment in PC. After that, plug back in, and Contacts work fine again, albeit a bit slower compared without the micro-SD card taken out of N82.  thumbup.gif

hei i think this have nothing todo with AP set...
all device come from same factory
jus coincident luck sweat.gif

AP distributor didnt manufacture the device, just different warranty set and after service

and dont mistake so called original set will get Grade A device and AP set will get Grade B...
no such thing doh.gif

question about chargers...

the charger equipped with us is AC - 5, ouput 5v 800mA. I have another charger AC - 4x, output 5v 890mA.

I dont know whether is phyco effect or wat.....the 4x seems to charge my N82 faster......

is it safe to use it?

ps: i wonder y nokia give us a lower output charger. The AC 4x was from 6120 (890 mAh) while our phone battery is 1050 mAh
*
sometime im using USB charger... it is only 500mA
no worry... it is same...
only different is fast chargin and slow...
---
last time ppl like to CHARGE SLOW SLOW...
if SLOW mean more battery cell being ionize, longer battery power and lifetime could b longer
but nowsday i guessed nobody follow this rule anymore...
coz no matter what you do, your battery will not last you more than 2years
except cheplak version only last you 6months tongue.gif

can the phone be charge using the microUSB thingy connected to a PC or laptop?
*
no... it wont charge

look for CA-100 on google
the advantage is... u can use 3G on the USB and charge together
coz i know even if "miniUSB" use the USB to go internet, it will stop chargin
but with this CA-100 you can surf the net and charge at the same time

ps: yup u didnt read wrong... only miniUSB can charge and go online using same cable... not microUSB
~ correct me if im wrong sweat.gif
