Just came back from Daikin USJ. Ngam ngam, there is a technical guy from Meguiars name B.S. Yap was there in the shop. When he saw my two week tak cuci punya kereta + kotor +raining punya pasal, straight he came to me and tell me my car not protected.

I was like wtf? How he know my car not protected by any wax etc? Because of my car dirtiness? He also tell me that my car have lots of swirl mark. And again i was like wtf? He is on some kind of bionic eye or wat? So i challenge him to show me the swirl mark as well as not protected. He told me that if i wan my car to shine and gloss, i need to do Rm488 full complete Meg package.

Ask him for a demo on how 'gloss' my light colour car can go and he say no problem. I will let u see the significant result after i wash my car. So there he is after washing (Daikin worker wash of course), came to me and started to put compound and fix Even Coat Microfibre Applicator Pads on the polishing tools. He did it for 5 layer of compound on half of my bonet and finally told me can't do much as i need to do sanding. He also commented Daikin shop lack of accesories and the need to change the applicator pad as it's too weak to cut anything. After 5 layer, he polished it with profesional series and uses RejecX for final part.

Of course i can feel the smooth surface in the end of the job but one thing that he said earlier 'significant gloss result' was nowhere to be seen. He told me must see the lighting and need to be seen on certain angle. I was like, hey if it is a 'significant result' should i see in the eye of a pro detailer which must be seen from some angle, ligthing and crap? But no doubt if u see from some lighting, u can see a very sharp looking word (reflection from signboard) but if u see from the untreated bonet, the wording is blurly.

Lastly i ask him about swirl mark on my car that he claimed early on and his answer is too easy. He jes told me can only be seen at night where light are shot to my car. Also can only be seen under bright sun or bright spot light. Ask him to show me by shoting sport light on my car to find swirl mark but he seems to ignore my question. In fact, he only answer 3 out of dozen question i throw to him. Choosy picky question i guess. He will go blah blah blah and u like ya ya, uhu, uhu, but why ... and he will totally ignore it and answer u with different topic and blah blah again. lol

But, he is still a nice guy to chat with and he does have deep knowledge on the product but it's jes anooying when he completely ignoring customer question. At the end thanks him for the demo and left the place.

Took me about an hour ++ there. I have lots of time but jes that 4 cars in Daikin are waiting for me to go out only they can come out from the shop. My car was the first one. Pity them lol. I feel so uneasy for them to wait so long but none of Daikin worker dare to interupt us. Make me paiseh jugak..

PS: btw, there is a thing he show me quite interesting. He claimed to be from Germany. It's call magic sponge. He jes use the white sponge with clear water and manage to wipe out my century dirt on the rubber easily. Last time when i sent my car to polish and interior, the guy told me the dirt canot be save anymore. But this guy only uses the magic sponge and clear water and wipe it off without any big effort. I wonder what is that and he told me cant be bought here. Imported from German. Hope i can find it. Anyone know? It feel like a hard white sponge. I really need it to clean all the dirt in my car. Below is the photo

HAHA i got the magic sponge. yup its from Germany my mum bought me from Pasar Malam for 20 bucks 1 long block. lol u need ka Adrian?

Ok spent quite some money on detailing product. tongue.gif want to make a 6 year old Vios shine again... It's paint is oxidize at certain part, and full with swirl, scratch and water mark. This is what I'm planning to do.

1 - Wash the car with Petronas durance wash and wax.. got 2 bottles doh.gif forced to take as it comes with the lube during service
2 - clay the car when it's still wet using P&G Clay Bar
3 - Polish the car using Black & Decker Polisher + Merguirs Ultimate Compound
4 - Continue on with P&G Sealant + Black & Decker Polisher
5- Finish it with Merguirs Ultimate Quick Wax

Does the step above in the correct sequence? Googling on the techniques on each of these steps atm.

The steps there looks ok, but the way you described your car as 'oxidize' and 'full with swirl, scratch and water marks', sounds like you're in for quite a looooong day there matey, especially when working only with a B&D. I hope you're using a compound pad with it. Good luck and don't forget to share your results/findings with us here ya.
Ok wish me luck... i forseeee 6 - 7 hours at least. sweat.gif
I read somewhere that after i wash.. i better rinse it.. clean it up only start with claying right? haha. hope it would not cause more dmg. tongue.gif

The B&D do come with some cheap compound pad.. starting small and if I'm really into it i might upgrade to something better..

just keep the surface wet with the clay lube, and dont press too hard.
also dont stay in 1 area too long.

noted! i tested the clay on my Forte.. nothing much to clay la actually but it's really good. Just like what's being said by everyone... silky smooth after claying.

Question! after doing all the steps mentioned the swirl mark were gone!!! most of it tongue.gif But now the problem is with the scratches as you can see in the attached image. Any idea how to remove them? Merguirs ultimate compound don't seem to work too well on them. I tried the compound one 1 area twice.. but still the deep visible scratches is there. sad.gif

hurm... will try though

Since you already have the Meg's Ultimate Compound, you can try a few more rounds of it. If you see the scratches slowly going away that mean you're on the right track. Just keep going. There are not many compound out there which is as aggressive but safe as Meg's Ultimate Compound. And remember, you're working by hand so it'll take more time and effort than using an aggressive machine.

thanks for the recommendation. hurm.. okay. Haha I'm using the Black and Decker Polisher. It's actually quite good for beginner. I've only did it twice but seems not so effective. Guess like what you have said need to do it a couple more times.

Maybe you should try the UC with a cloth....more aggressive that way...not to mention more control with how large of an area to compound/polish.

Ahh Thanks Bro. Maybe I will use hand for those scratches. Hehe Thanks

Anyone know where can i get "Mothers" Product? Bought a carnauba wax and it's damn easy to apply and buff. Thinking of getting their compound and polish material as well.

I'm planning to buy some stuff from Amazon after conversion + shipping charges it's about the same with the price here. Anyone want to join me for a bigger bulk and cheaper price? tongue.gif We will share the shipping cost.

amazon doesnt do international shipping on most of their detailing products unfortunately

Try these guys. Amazon themselves nop but some of their retailers are doing international shipment directly. Compared a few this is one of the cheapest. sad.gif

Added on December 28, 2012, 1:21 amAnyone here invested in a cordless impact driver and fit in bosch polishing pads on them? I'm thinking of getting one now.. The B&D polisher doesn't serve the purpose. Only can use them when I'm back in my hometown. Now thinking of a cordless impact driver to assist me in my detailing activities.

Not too much on a budget issue but the problem is that I'm living in a condo... no where for me to plug in a proper DA polisher. sad.gif

That's why thinking of Bosch Cordless Drill with the foam applicator. i wonder does it work well? The RPM is @ 1400.. seems promising.

Don't know whether what you're looking for are here but you might want to try ACE Hardware or:
http://carguys.com.my/
https://www.autopolishine.com/
I don't think they have the whole range and sometimes stock is limited, but it's worth a try to get in touch with them. Maybe they can arrange a bulk/group purchases. I know carguys does as the owner is also a detailing enthusiasts.
Still working on it. Work commitments + cuti2 balik kampung + son in ward + school starting = my life story mellow.gif  mellow.gif  mellow.gif

Thanks bro.. my first night parking outside my office.. and I can tell you the Mother's carnauba wax are really working! Most importantly it's so easy to apply. okok later i curi curi pay a visit to ACE hardware again. i got the WAX from Ace hardware also.

Bro... Regarding the Fusco soft 99 polish wax? Dorno i got it right or not.. It seems to be quite dangerous for a newbie like me to use no? Very harsh when I'm doing the buffing on my paint and give it a try on my PG Sealant and it's much better.. I mean for a noob like me I'm afraid i would use it wrongly and hurt the paint.. More over it has a strong scent of methane?
Do you have any recommendation of Polish which is easy to apply and not that hard to buff it off the car?

I don't quite understand what you mean by 'harsh'. Furthermore, Fusso Coat is one of the line in Soft99 brand and there's many products under the Fusso Coat line. Which one did you use? Can grab a picture of it from the net?

But, in general, I do find that a few Fusso Coat line do smell like they contain lots of solvent. That is a good thing actually since the solvent will help to 'chemically clean' the surface whilst leaving a layer of protection behind when you're applying it. And, in general for Soft99 brand, as long as it doesn't say 'compound' on the can then you're quite safe using it.

Plenty of the newer polishes nowadays are quite easy to apply and buff off. Before making any suggestion, I'd need to know what car you're working on and what are you looking for in term of results and what are you trying to achieve/correct.

Bro got attached is the image. I;m actually still working on my gurls black vios. The last round the outcome was quite satisfying this round i would like to remove most of the scratches as well.

hrrmm...let me see now.

"Power Cleaner & Fusso Coat", "For dark & metallic color", 3 months durability.....

From the brief info on the can, I can only speculate. I'd say that this would most probably be an AIO (All In One) - a mild paint cleaner with wax. I don't think it is abrasive enough to remove scratches and it would most probably do more 'filling' then 'removing'. Even if it does, it'll take a lot of efforts.

For mild swirls or scratch removal, for on-the-shelf product, I'd suggest you try Meguiars Ultimate Polish, SwirlX, or Mothers California Gold Scratch Remover, the latter two are almost identical. Ultimate Polish is a more recent product so if you're looking for easy usage & buffing off, then that should be the better option to try. Oh...you're working by hand right? Using a 'sponge' pad or cloth? Either way, hand or a machine, Ultimate Polish can be use on both. There might be other similar products in 3M, Sonax, or other brands but I haven't tried any of them before so can't comment much. Maybe somebody else can chime in on this.

An additional suggestion, if you can afford it, get the Meg's Ultimate Compound as well. It's stronger than Ultimate Polish. You can use UC for spot removal of the deeper or more severe defects and follow up with UP.

Regards.

uh oh! I have ultimate compound but wasn't really good using it the last round.. quite alot of scratches were not removed. Anyway i shall try a couple more times on that. hehe. Thanks man.
