My first attempt at personally detailing my 5 yr old car. Inspired to do it on my own after being shortchanged by a so-called car spa in a Groupon package deal. Attended a detailing clinic by sifu KC and got the 'hardware' and 'software' from sifu KC and sifu Seech.
Started off with a wash with Optimum No Rinse wash (ONR). Then some claying on the bonnet was done. Then another quick wash on the bonnet and dry. Under the halogen light (bought from Ace Hardware), swirls can be seen. Swirls and scuffs Masking tape at the sensitive parts Used the Makita and Optimum Hyper Polish. After three passes, the swirls and scuffs were gone. A tough watermark remains. A final wipe with Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer to give it a gloss A better view. My fave pic The work may not have been tip top as I have a lot more to learn. As they say, practice makes perfect, but it was a good start. Thanks to sifu KC and Seech for imparting with their precious knowledge, experience and their fantastic products from Optimum. This post has been edited by dariofoo: Aug 16 2012, 12:27 PM |
