How often will you guys recommend that I apply wax on a black car?

So... if I just got a brand new car, I should just drive home, wash and wax it first? Sorry, all my previous car care experience is just a fortnightly wash with a regular car shampoo. That's all! tongue.gif

I think this is gonna be a whole new experience for me.

What do you guys think for the following brand's range of products?

Turtle Wax, PG (Perma Glass), Kit and Black Magic ?

Is there something I can use to clean PU covered seats? Or just wipe and vacuum is enough?

How's NXT Tech 2.0 wax in our weather? I tried the Gold Class wax but it seems to wear out after 1 week. My car is always under the sun, by the way.

Tried Turtle Wax Platinum Ultra Gloss. So darn hard to buff after it dries. But it made my black paint look really shiny though! Also, I noticed the metallic flakes on my paint is less sparkly. Would be interesting to see how durable it is in our weather.

My car is always parked under the sun during office hours on weekdays. My experience with waxes so far:

Soft99 Extra Hard Paste wax = 4 weeks. Nice water beading for 3 1/2 weeks. Ok gloss and shine. Seems to attract dust though.

Meg's Gold Class = 1 week. So so water beading. Nice deep shine, but not that glossy. Makes the really surface slippery.

Also, do we glaze before or after waxing? I read that some people think that glaze will make it harder for wax or sealant to bond to the paint.

Also, anyone knows if Meg's Gold Class or Soft99 Extra Hard Paste contain any cleaners? And would that remove glaze?

Hey guys, how do I remove access wax that gets trapped between panels? And is it normal for paint to look... uneven? The reflection is jaggy.

You mean brush off the residue with a paint brush? Thanks a lot for your help.

Also, for quick detailing, do you rinse the car with water and then dry prior to applying the spray or just spraying the wax straight on will do?

Which quick detailer I should use if I use Gold Class? I have the impression that if I use say... Ultra Gloss Detailer on Gold Class, it's gonna produce some weird looking gloss and reflections.

Ughhh. For some reason I have an urge to try out Turtle Wax ICE now. I must be having some mid-life crisis.

Thank you 'Car Detailing' bros. I've learned a lot from you guys in the past couple of months smile.gif I went from someone who don't even know what is car detailing to a beginner!

And yes, I'm interested to hear about your experiences with NXT as well.

I tried NXT 2.0 with Ultimate Quik Detailer already. While it's not as reflective or easy to apply as ICE, it seems to attract much less dust. And it sheets water better too.

Do you guys hose off rain water from your car? Or just leave it?

Problem is, if I leave the beaded rain water on my black car, I'll get some stains the next morning. Is it called water spots?

Can recommend a polish to reduce orange peel? All I have now is Meg's Medallion Paint Cleaner. Or do we have to go to a shop for wet-sanding or something?

Orange peel lah. If affordable, I might consider it.

Saw that Ace Hardware is selling Bayes Waterless Detailer or something. Supposedly no need water to wash the car. Dunno why it is called a detailer though.

Is there a more readily available dishwashing liquid that I can use other than Dawn?

Hmm. Saw an RM98 'polishing' machine at Brothers kelana jaya. Not sure how safe is it to be used on our cars though. It's RM98 after all.

Got any recommendations for an entry level DA or Orbital machine?
