Firstly bro, you don't use a shampoo like that to remove whatever polishing oils, that's why it is interfering with the Permanon bonding. To remove polishing oils you need a proper IPA wipedown and whatever equivalent may be used.

While this is an honest experience from you, this can be misleading.

Absolutely correct!

oooic.. next time i'll skip the washing after polishing.. good info for myself. never tried using IPA on clear coats before coz a few years ago i screwed up my LCD screen with IPA, so i stopped using IPA as a cleaner.. still have a 500ml bottle at home i use for cleaning processors, mobo, etc.. is OPC/Permanon's Hecta PL wipedown equivalent to IPA ? since i know OPC is a damn good cleaner...

anyways since i was free earlier this morning i did a test spot again on the bonnet, washed with soap, then did another wash with hecta pl(OPC finished), assuming that Hecta PL will remove any oils or whatsoever. then applied permanon platinum on one side, and OCW on the other for comparison purposes later in the week.
according to him, IPA may be harmful to the clear coats if not used correctly/carefully? or am i understanding him incorrectly?

Yes, Hecta PL can be used to remove polishing oil and existing wax but it is not recommended to be used on car body too often. Rinse with water asap to avoid hecta pl stay on the surface for too long.

Just a suggestion, what is your expectation for comparing wax vs Permanon coating in terms of durability? shine? dirt repellent? ease of maintenance? etc. FYI, water beading is not just a overall benchmark for glass coating products. If you are looking for nice water beading result, then wax is recommended but you have to apply regularly as it does not last long.

wan to ask those Permanon Platinum good o not? can use to replace the meguiars wax?

With the same condition that proper surface prepration has been done, Permanon can last longer than wax.

Hmm, regarding Permanon, I don't mix different brands of product to use. Last time used all TurtleWax range. I brought my car to a professional shop for first time Permanon application cos i wanted to see how do they apply.

Now as for maintenance, I just wash it with brillantshine or diamond 2-in-1 bi-weekly or even 3-week interval. Water sheeting effect still there but you can tell it's slightly diminishing. So i'll just wash with Hecta PL and spray with Permanon Platinum 3-5% once every 2 months. Spent about an hour or so for the whole process including cleaning the interior, and I used less water and less messy than waxing.

It's been 5 months and no worries when driving during this rainy period. That's why i think if you're using Permanon, you need to really clean the surface thoroughly with Hecta PL (I dont use clay bar), dry it quickly to leave the surface bare clean without any residues. Then only spray Permanon, best is to mixed with RO water, I tried with clean filtered water but not as good as RO water.

If properly applied, it'll actually last quite long. At least this is what i experienced.

cheers

Actually, it is not so recommended to keep too oftenly using Hecta PL for cleaning the surface. It is kinda quite strong in its alkaline properties. We recommend to use PS Paste instead as it is a PH neutral magic soap.

You can maintain the car with Brilliantshine shampoo more often as it is a car shampoo integrated with Permanon Platinum.

You shall try Permanon then. It lasts longer. With proper surface preparation, it can last few months.

and i wan to ask bout clay, i getting myself a permanon product with brillant shine shampoo, u think is better i get a claybar to clay my car?

my car only 1 month old.........

Hi Bro,

Yes, it is better to clay your car first to ensure embedded dirts are removed from the surface so that Permanon can be bonded on a very clean and bare surface. This would also help Permanon coating to last longer.
